A fun, easy read.

It's been an age since I read a Stephanie Plum book, so I reached for this when I finally unpacked the boxes of books that have been in storage while we've been doing renovations at home. And it was like relaxing with an old friend. True nothing ever really changes in Steph's life - she's still juggling Joe and Ranger*, she's still as accident prone as ever and her bounty hunting skills will never improve - but it's fun to follow her around Trenton for a few hours nonetheless.

*In fact I think if Evanovich does ever pick one of the two, the reaction will be similar to that of the Sookie Stackhouse fans at the end of the Southern Vampire series - lots of anger because she won't be able to please everyone!

5 star - Perfect
4 star - i would recommend
3 star - good
2 star - struggled to complete
1 star - could not finish

It is what it is. All of the Plum books follow a similar formula, but you know what? I’m pretty much enjoy the formula. It would be nice if Stephanie could choose between the two men, and she maybe got to be a little better at her job. I would enjoy reading about her growing, but I enjoy these for what they are.

I enjoyed the addition of the giraffe, and I’m glad Stephanie managed to rescue Grandma in time.

I just love all the Stephanie Plum novels. They do get repetitive in nature but the characters are so loveable that it is nice to visit them once a year.

I expected a bit of mindless reading when I picked up this book, and Takedown Twenty lived up to that expectation. I have read all the books in this series and do so when a need a quick diversion - I know Stephanie will have mishaps while trying to apprehend bail jumpers, I know she will be torn between Ranger and Morelli, I know a car she is driving will blow up or be totaled, I know that Lulu will wear tiny pieces of spandex and eat a lot, I know that Ranger will rescue her and call her "Babe", I know she will visit her parents and go to at least one viewing at the funeral home with her grandmother. Even though I wasn't expecting anything more, I am just getting weary of this. I wasn't sure of the rating I wanted to leave for what to me is a recycled story that sadly wasn't laugh out loud funny as her earlier books. I decided to give it a two (instead of a one) because I knew what I was getting into and did get the diversion I needed.

I enjoy the Stephanie Plum series, though once you get in the twenties, the jokes aren't quite as fresh as the first times they are told. I'm still rooting for Stephanie and love the crazy cast of regulars, I just try to space out reading Evanovich's books. The audiobooks are my favorite way to enjoy them - the reader, Lorelei King, is phenomenal.

Stephanie has finally lost her mind. She has given up chasing the bad guys, hunting down giraffes, and trying to stay committed to Morelli. But why? And can she last?

I've been bored with the series for the last several books and this one was the worst. Hoping she can pull it out of the toilet soon!

Somewhat entertaining but nothing special. The highlight was Kevin popping in and out of the story. So sick of the Joe/Ranger thing. I don't actually care who she ends up with I just want her to pick one and stick with him. On a story note (rather than romance one)I LOVE Ranger and what he adds to the story. His interactions with Stephanie are always entertaining and interesting, while Morelli's role seems to be turn up for dinner and/or sex then go to work. Great in real life, boring for a book.
