I don't know where to begin. This book. This couple. Wow. I could tell they were going to be combustible from the first book in this series, but Harlow James outdid herself! Of course there are steamy scenes, but there's so much more to this story.
I love that you get to see Hayes, the hero, and Waverly, the heroine, really grow. They grow not only as a couple but as individuals as well. You've got Hayes as the typical player (or so you think

I was generously given an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

f: Waverly 24
m: Hayes 31
(Dual POVs)

First, let me start off by saying I was so excited for this book after seeing Waverly and Hayes' banter in My Unexpected Serenity, and this book did not disappoint in the slightest! The banter carries over into this book, and I was so happy to see that it didn't automatically simmer down as soon as they got married. As the banter continues, the sexual tension between these two is almost too much to handle!

I admired Waverly's determination to make a name for herself and not take advantage of her family name. It was adorable to watch Hayes slowly become domesticated and make plans for him and his 'fake wife'. Oh.My.God. Hayes' protective side? I was not expecting that! It had me practically melting, so I suggest you stay close by to a fan or a freezer in order to cool down!

To sum it up, I loved everything about this book and if you're a fan of enemies-to-lovers, sexually tense banter, and hot kitchen counter sex scenes, get this book NOW!

Favorite Quotes:
"Bite me, Hayes."
"Just tell me where, sweetheart,"

"Although, won't your beaver get lonely without a little log action?" He lifts a brow and then drops his eyes to my lap and then his.
"That was the most pathetic excuse for a pun I've ever heard."

"And I'm going to start keeping a collection of all of your hair that you leave around, just in case you start to go bald and I have to make you a wig."
-Hayes

"You, me, and a bottle of tequila is the perfect combination of disaster and serendipity."

My Unexpected Vow is a super cute story that had me cheering for these two and their HEA!

What happens when you get drunk with your best friend's younger sister, in Vegas, on New Year's Eve? You wake up hungover and married, and determined to turn this disaster into something a little more convenient.

Hayes and Waverly are so funny and adorable. I can't believe how clueless they both were to their true feelings. The tension, the sarcasm, and the sorting through their feelings made for a highly entertaining read. I laughed out loud a number of times, and I swooned at the unexpected every day sweet moments.

And that ending? Bring on Book 3!

Harlow James has captured my heart with her new series, and My Unexpected Vow showcases her best writing yet!

We met Waverly and Hayes in My Unexpected Serenity, as Wes’ younger sister and his best friend. They have a snarky relationship that is definitely edged with something else, and when one drunken New Years Eve in Vegas happens, our two main characters wake up and find themselves married!

If you love:
-Forced proximity
-marriage of convenience
-enemies to lovers
-banter and wit galore
Then The Unexpected Vow is for you! Harlow James writes from the heart and this book has humour and heat as well. Waverly and Hayes both have an outer shell to protect themselves somewhat, yet slowly and together, readers find the depth of characters and their true selves. This is my favourite Harlow James book yet!

Thank you for the early copy I received, this is an honest review.

Fun twist on enemies to lovers

I loved the twist on this enemies to lovers. Childhood best friends sister who he drunkenly marries in Vegas. They keep an arrangement and set an end date but then they don’t want it to end.

It was funny, romantic and a good enemies to lovers. I gave it four stars because I didn’t find myself falling head over heels in love with the characters. I thought they were great and the story was good but I wanted to be just a tad bit more emotionally invested. Still would recommend!

My Unexpected Vow by Harlow James is book two in the California Billionaires Series. This book is an enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend, marriage of convenience, romance. Hayes Weston and Waverly Morgan have known each other for most of their lives and they have never gotten along. On New Year’s Eve, they meet at a club in Vegas, get blackout drunk, and accidentally get married. Sounds like a recipe for disaster right? However, Hayes and Morgan enter a mutually beneficial agreement to stay married for six months and it remains to be seen if they will make it to the end before their teasing and banter destroys their relationship.

I LOVED Hayes and Waverly! They have a seamless chemistry and banter one would see in couples who are soulmates. I loved the give and take of their relationship and how they went from despising the other to finding comfort and love in each other. I loved the slow buildup of their relationship and the way they came together. Both characters are so real, unique, and they work so well together. I have no more words to express how much I loved this book.

Enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend, and marriage of convenience are all my favorite tropes and I had high expectations going into this book. Harlow James has written a beautiful book that checks all my boxes for a fantastic book! I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book in this series so I can get another dose of Harlow James’ writing because after this book I’m a fan of hers for life!

I am a big fan of Harlow James books since I read her book Tangled and I was not disappointed with My Unexpected Vow. When I normally read I book that I get an ARC of I read the book in a single sitting and then I’m sad that it’s over, so when I read My Unexpected Vow I made an conscious effort to read it slowly and I’m so happy I did because I was able to thoroughly enjoy it and I didn’t miss anything.
Hayes Weston is happy in his life, he loves running his night clubs and his bachelor lifestyle. Until one day his dad comes to him saying he wants to retire and while Hayes is all for becoming CEO of his family’s business but his dad says he’s not comfortable with him taking over until he’s more settled down. So now Hayes is under pressure to become more settled down and maybe even find a bride...
Waverly Morgan is fresh out of school for interior design and is looking for a job, unfortunately being the sister of the CEO of a hotel chain doesn’t help cause they only see a spoiled rich girl and not the hard worker that she is. When she keeps getting harassed by her cheating ex she and her BFF/roommate Emma go to Vegas for New Years to get away from it all. Much to her surprise they run into her brothers friend, Hayes, who incessantly picks on her even as adults, at a nightclub that he owns.
After a night of far too much drinking both Hayes and Waverly wake up in bed together... and married.
While Waverly is all for getting an annulment Hayes sees this as the perfect solution to both of their problems. He’ll show his parents that he’s settled down and she’ll finally get her ex to leave her alone. While Waverly reluctantly agrees to six months Hayes is ready for this charade to begin.
While their marriage starts off kinda rocky, with Hayes constantly picking on Waverly son their fake marriage turns into a real relationship. But when Hayes gets what he wants and becomes CEO he stops putting their relationship first and their fledgling relationship begins to crumble. Can Hayes convince Waverly that he’s in it for the long haul?

I was so excited to read Hayes and Waverly’s story. They had the best hate banter in book one. This book has fun witty banter, regarding open kitchen cabinets and drawers, to leaving pen caps off. With a tequila infused wedding with a singing Elvis, to fake dating in order for Hayes to make his Dad see he is fit to take over the family business as CEO, to Waverly coming into her own, getting to prove herself as a designer.

While they go from married, to roommates, to friends, to lovers their connection will make you laugh, cry, want to yell, and then melt your heart.

Favorite quote:

“I’m sorry I never saw you before this. I’m sorry I never let myself see you. But I’m seeing you now, and I don’t think I could ever go back to a world where you’re not the center of it.”

While their road to love is bumpy, it’s worth the ride! Check it out!
