Jillian and Brock’s story was a sweet one. Jillian’s past trauma was awful, and the supposed role that Brock played in it was unfortunate. It’s been years since the trauma and Jillian decided she wants to start actually living again. In this decision, she is reconnected with Brock and they are able to work through some things.
This book was so bittersweet. Catching up with the characters from the previous books was very much needed. I mean, I started this series years ago (I think when I was still in middle school!) and it’s now come to a close. I’m just so happy for everyone 😭
P.S.
I still would’ve loved a book about Katie. I mean how could you not??
Oh how I love love loved this book! I feel like this series will always hold a special place in my heart now, it's so good and brings me all the happy feels! It's also so hot, as the Queen does so well! I loved finding out about how all the characters are doing now from the past books! So happy to learn about Steph being pregnant again! AHHHH! And Roxy being pregnant too! And Teresa about to pop one out? Like ahhhh! And this couple has been in love with each other for so long and I'm just so damn happy for them! Loved this series, Love Jennifer L. Armentrout, Love it all! I feel so accomplished now that I've finished this series but Jennifer finishes it out well that I'm not too sad to finish it because of how complete it feels :) No book hangover with this one, which I love!
I received an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. Blog Tour and review can be found on *Milky Way of Books*
"Fire in You" was one of the strongest, most emotional books of the series. Jill's and Brock's story broke my heart and remade it within 200 e-pages. Their background story, the glimpses we got from both of them, even the blooming romance were so well-written!
I liked how Jill tried to get over Brock. Because after everything she'd been though she wanted to move on. But my sweet Brock never gave up, even if he carried all these emotional scars with him. Also the cameo appearances of all the previous characters some with children, some with husbands, were a sweet reminder that this series is over but you can always go back and enjoy these amazing stories. Jen Armentrout's final book was a masterpiece! ;)

Best wel prima boek, maar ze zijn eigenlijk allemaal hetzelfde in deze serie. Wel fijn en luchtig luistermateriaal
I heave ready many books by Jennifer Armentrout and all of the other books in this series. This is the first one that I have listened to on Audible. This one was enjoyable but I definitely prefer some of the others to this one. I am not sure if it is because I was listening to this book instead of reading it myself but some of the dialog I found to be really annoying, cheesy and worthy of many eye rolls. A couple examples include when Jillian and Brock went to Mona's the second time and EVERY character had to say how amazing Jillian looked. Another example is when Brock came back from a business trip with Jillian's dad and he said "I missed the sound of my name on your lips." Ugh, gag me. Dialog has never bothered me before but I just found myself so annoyed with the characters for speaking this way, even though that's the way it was written. I feel like real people in real life situations don't talk like that. It was just incredibly irritating.
I was also annoyed how quickly Brock and Jillian got together. Of course Jillian had loved him for years but to just be like we are together so quickly was also kind of annoying. Insta love and insta relationships annoy me because that not how normal people act in real life, most of the time. I also found it annoying how Jillian's parents were just telling Brock EVERYTHING about her life without her permission, her plans, who she was dating, where she would be. It was unnecessary. And how everyone in her family was pushing hard for them to be together without actually asking her if it was okay or if it was what she wanted.
This was a cute story but I just wasn't as into it as I was with the other books in this series. There were kind of a lot of things that got under my skin about this book. It was entertaining nonetheless but this particular book just wasn't for me.

Jillian Lima’s entire life changed six years ago when a gun shot led to her moving miles away from her family and no longer living but existing in a void. Losing herself was hard enough but losing her childhood best friend Brock Mitchell and the person she had loved with all her heart made it even worse. Brock has felt guilty about what happened that night since he should have been there for her like she and her family had been there for him and after that event he felt like Jillian no longer wanted him to be there. Now years after the separation, Brock is determined to get to his former best friends life.
This book is kind of mixture of second chance at love and friends to lovers. I really adored Jillian, I truly felt for her but at the same time I admired her because she goes through a lot of development in the book to be in a place where she feels happy and loved, a far cry from the woman in the first chapter.
I ended up really liking Jillian and Brock even though he drove me slightly crazy (and Jillian) with his behaviour at times. They had these moments where it was so easy to slip back into friendship that I found adorable (and I love those moments because its presents a shared history) and while it’s a slow burn its done really well and it was very satisfying to see them finally end up together.
Quibbles: I wished we had gotten even a chapter from Brock’s POV from his friendship days with Jillian /after the night because I felt like I was missing the intensity seen behind his emotions/words since from Jillian’s POV it seemed like he was an ass earlier with his behaviour and I wished there had been more grovelling involved.
The first one will *probably* always be my favourite from this series, just because their was just something very special about that one to me so it was great seeing Avery and Cam again and seeing them being so happy with their children made my heart melt.
All in all another win by J. Lynn (Jennifer Armentrout) and a great enjoyable read for anyone who’s a fan of Jennifer’s and likes new adult contemporaries with damaged leads.

This was a 3.5 star read for me.
I was looking for a contemporary romance palate cleanser from all of the smut I’d been reading and this scratched that itch.
I just really wished…
1. That the author didn’t make me wait so long to finally get all the details of what happened that night. I couldn’t even begin to start forgiving and forgetting until I at least knew what I was supposed to be forgiving.
2. That we had a Brock POV. He was the reason that Jillian was in a place to be injured and hadn’t spoken to her in years, but he immediately jumped back into interacting with her with all the smirks and playful banter. I was very confused on his approach because I felt there should have been groveling.
3. That Jillian was a stronger character. She talked about her lack of connection with other men, but I don’t think she wanted to have a connection with anyone except Brock. I don’t think she ever stopped pining after him, even if she’d like to believe that she had.
I will give kudos for the speech from
