A great start to this series. I loved the world that G Bailey is building here. Slow burn but plenty of tension xx

Just when I thought G Bailey had written it all (and so well at that!) Runes of Truth comes out. Assassins and RH, literally what else could you want? We get one badass MC Evie, 3 hot protectors and 1 demon. Just wow! I love paranormal books in general anyway, and let me say this is one unique series, something like we’ve not had before. Be prepared when reading this book you will NOT put it down, everything outside of the book ceases to exist because it’s that intriguing! Gem you have once again amazed me with your writing skills and I cannot wait to read more!

  • i read this a few years ago and seemed to like it enough but going back to it this time around i really was not a fan
  • the FMC was just plain unlikeable and refused to communicate which made everything harder than it had to be
  • the fact that her demon ex just was conveniently called to help her after she’d done ‘so well’ avoiding him for so long felt unrealistic
  • the whole book felt very juvenile despite some of the content inside of it
  • the 3 MMCs from the ‘palace’ felt very similar in nature honestly and the tragic past motive for them felt very forced
  • i just found myself cringing more than any actual enjoyment so decided it was time to stop
  • even the world building felt like it had potential but just really was not executed in a compelling enough way
  • the fact that everyone tried to kill her because of her runes but she had no idea why and they had no idea why just felt like a really annoying idea to me for some reason lol

Overall I enjoyed the book, the plot develops really quickly and I feel like some scenes could have been a bit more detailed and it was pretty predictable, but it was easy to get into the story and the characters were all pretty likeable.

Runes of Truth was pretty good for a reverse harem. I feel like it's been ages since I dove into one of those books. Even though it was highly predictable it did end up being a nice, quick, and easy read. Especially with the week I had - I definitely needed this.

Evie is a pretty awesome character and easy to like. Whether she's rocking her blue hair or being stronger than the guys.. she was just different and again, likeable. She also doesn't take shit from anyone and I absolutely loved this. She had a damn back bone which is kind of rare for main characters.

Now even though this book was beyond predictable.. the ending was kind of underwhelming. I feel like the author was like.. meh, the end. Then I'm left sitting here wondering if there's a secret chapter hidden within the book or something. Which made me think of cliffhangers and how I hate them so much. I will definitely be diving into the next book whenever I get my hands on it.

Overall, it was an entertaining book that had action, swoon-worthy guys, danger, and secrets. I feel like there were so many secrets to keep track of that I just ended up going with the flow because my brain couldn't compute anymore. Again, it was probably due to work frying my brain but oh well. I liked all of the characters so much. I would say love.. but I can't pick a favorite... yet.

A bit fast, plot wise, but intriguing.

Runes of Truth started out really good, but quickly went downhill for me. From the beginning I was curious about what was going on with Evi, why people want to kill her, who her parents are, what is going on. You jump right into the action and learn about the world along the way which I enjoyed.

Only Evie quickly gets captured and taken to the royal family for the Protectors and has to help them with a mission. She needs more people to come along with her where she is going so they send three protectors with her. Plus her ex-boyfriend who wants to get back together with her. And then things got really meh at best. There was all of this trying to be like she was into all the guys, but it didn't work as there was no development there. None. Like she thought everyone was hot when she met them and that somehow was supposed to translate to she cares about all of them (and them her) in two seconds. Okay...and her ex really didn't make any sense. He was all SHE IS MINE!!!! whenever the Protectors looks at her, but then after like two pages he is oh, I think you should be with all of us cause they bring out a different side of you I have never seen before. Okay...that would be great if there were any reason why he suddenly switched his mind or if we saw her come out of her shell and be different with the other guys or really if there was any character development at all. This wasn't a long read, it really could have used more time to develop the story as it felt super rushed and you were just supposed to go along with everything even though you never saw any of it happen. It was way too quick, way too simple, and not very good in the end. Oh well, it didn't take that long to read.

Runes of Truth was a fun, quick read! G. Bailey does a wonderful job at world building. I was sucked right into Evie’s story. It was shrouded with mystery and I need to know more! Fans of Cassandra Clare will love this book!
However, when the setting switches about half way through, the writing wasn’t as strong as the beginning of the book. It did pull me back in the last couple of chapters, so I’m glad I stuck to it! I will be reading the next book after that ending!
I also want to note that I love Evie. She is a very strong female lead, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!

I am really enjoying this book. The main character Evie is the protective, insanely talented bad ass. I think that can be a fine line sometimes. And this author just really nails this character. I honestly enjoy all of the main characters. This is a quick book but I felt immersed in the world and invested in the story. My biggest complaint about the book is the length. At times it felt rushed, the trip through Hell was short and I wish there was a little more to it. Overall I’m excited to continue the series.
