This is a good mix of contemporary romance and suspense. Grace has been emotionally/mentally abused by her parents all her life, just a warning if this could be a trigger for you. Grace and Logan are both very likeable characters, well written and believable. Logan was caring and protective without being over the top and domineering.

The realism was one of the big positives of this book. At one point the brothers would love to hack into a surveillance system but acknowledge that is the stuff of spy stories and films. The final resolution of Grace's situation was also portrayed in a very believable manner. I had to smile at one point when Grace mentally refused to behave like a female horror movie character by putting herself into a dangerous situation, again a normal or real choice.

The writing is of a high standard, the dialogue very natural and the plot was both very well thought through and executed well. The pace was good whilst the plot had lots of unexpected little twists and turns. The supporting characters were all fully rounded and believable (if not all likeable), although I would have liked to have has more scenes later in the book between Grace and Felicity (her best friend). This didn't spoil the book but I felt her best (and for a long time only) friend was a little absent from the story.

The chemistry between Grace and Logan is there from the start, feelings carried over from their teenage years. Again the author didn't rush the couple into bed and love straight away but allowed time for their relationship to be rebuilt. When time was 'skipped', in order to move the story on, this was made clear and the story flowed well because of this. The love scenes were 'warm' and very genuine, and thankfully didn't abruptly end or fade to grey.

An entertaining read.

I understand the nuances of emotional abuse, but I feel like this pushed a bit outside of the realm of what I could realistically swallow. Telling her she sucks, is worthless, etc... I believe. That horrible shit happens, and you can still cling to trying to earn your parents' love. But handcuffing her to a chair for a week ... etc ... that's just way beyond. At a certain point, it just stretched the boundaries of belief for me.

That said, it was alright. *shrug*

First time reading aand listening to this author. I really enjoyed this book, narration was good, but I wish the female narrator had done a better job with the male voice. Definitely going to try more of this author. Deals with some tough issues, abuse from parents and manipulation.

I liked the main characters - but her parents - seriously I could not stand them, it was painful reading anything involving them.

This book was just bad. So bad. None of the characters had believable storylines or conversations. Every conversation felt so awkward and unnatural.

Main girl made no sense. She was being emotionally abused but still had confidence/fight in her. It felt so conflicting. She understood she was being manipulated but refused to leave the situation. Which makes sense because she's been emotionally/mentally abused. But, she didn't have the broken spirit of an abused person. She was pretty much unscared. So her staying drove me crazy.

Also homeboy was.... weird. He was fine until he got into an actual relationship with the girl. Then he had all these really weird possessive thoughts about her that weren't sexy. They were red flags.

The spice was the MOST awkward spice I've ever read in my entire life.

Wow. I am really glad that I don't read reviews until after I finish a book.

This was a second chance romance with elements of emotional, mental, and physical abuse. The beginning of the story moved a little slowly, but served to ratchet up the tension in the book. Logan and Grace managed to rekindle a relationship from 10 years ago when Logan left after high school.

Certain parts of the book keep you on the edge waiting to see what will happen next. Other parts seem a little far fetched, but after all, it is fiction. Grace's parents exceeded control freaks to the point of being almost maniacally evil. I got the sense that if Grace's only concern was for herself, things would have been different.

This book is about Logan and it also introduces his brothers Nathan and Blake, explaining how Ace Security came to be started. Logan and Grace also get their HEA.

I read this book via Kindle Unlimited. Overall, I found it to be entertaining. This is the first book I have read by this author. I will go on to read the second book in the series.

To be honest, if I had read some of the reviews on Goodreads first, I probably would have passed it by. I would recommend you take a chance on it and judge for yourself.

Logan and Grace were cute.. but they were frustrating.

Claiming Grace was about second chances at love.. but it's also about abuse. All kinds of abuse because that's what Logan and Grace have in common. Logan's mom used to hit him and his brothers. Then there's Grace who's parents constantly abuse her mentally.

Ugh, these parents in this town are drinking something. I hated them all. Well, not Brad's parents.. they seem to be the only normal ones. Besides hating the parents, it's like Logan and Grace were just frustrating to read about in the beginning. I honestly didn't end up liking them until the end. Well, cause it was over but it's like they stop being whiny and did something about it.

Grace was meh. I wish she used her backbone more than just talking about it. I just felt like I was getting mixed information about her. Don't say she's strong but make her act the opposite. It was just confusing and annoying. Other than that, I liked the book and flew through it.

I found it a little hard to read, the author took the whole cinderella troph to a whole new level with Grace's abuse in a way that made me feel like I was reading manga, not a romance novel. While the first half of the book was plain cruel the climax was downright despicable.
The author does not attempt to explain what was at the root of all the evil behind Grace's parents making their characters unbelievable. In the end, Grace said she would never understand why her Mother treated her child so badly and didn't care to know and was simply happy with just escaping her (and doesn't even mention wanting closure from her Father for his part in all of this as though he was just a puppet of no consequence after all).
Personally, this is not enough closure for me. I'm not sure anyone who has ever been abused can stop themselves from trying to understand all the WHY's, why me? what could I have done differently? It's hard not to place blame somewhere, usually multiple someones in fact, and sadly a lot of that blame is usually on yourself whether you realize it or not you need to understand the bully's motive because you always want to know in the back of your mind if there was something about you that brought out the abusive nature in the other party.
But true love heals all and happy endings don't work without healing old wounds and finding closure.
I enjoyed the relationship between Logan and Grace immensely though, there was history, love, lots of drama, passion and a HEA witch in my opinion are the building blocks of any good romance novel so I did like this book even though I found the antagonists completely unbelievable.

So unique. The brothers are fraternal triplets that create a private security firm. Their primary client being males who are abused. Logan and Grace are perfect together. Such chemistry, a little bit of a heavy subject line but it was done very well. Great Kindle Unlimited find! New to me author! I'm on to the next one, gotta read about Blake!
