Absolutely awful. The way the characters spoke was weird and childish. No excitement in the storyline. Wanted to stop after 30% but talked myself into going on but nope can’t read another page!

Nikolai was born and raised to be a killer. While on his current assignment to find an accountant he comes across Daisy. Immediately infatuated with the innocent woman, Nikolai makes plans to meet her.

Daisy left her father running away she was stifled by the lifestyle he made for them. Meeting Nikolai she finds herself attracted but weary of the man who oozes control. The thing is though Nikolai feels he is no good for Daisy and the signals he gives off are confusing Daisy who has no idea of how a relationship works.

This had some moments that were delightful but I also felt like it dragged a bit in places. Once the danger for Nikolai arises though it is intense until the end.

description
This isn't a new story, a hitman falls for a girl while on a job. He's been watching her from afar. She's everything he isn't, innocent and pure. He can't help himself, but he's drawn to her even though he knows this puts her in danger. Of course his worst fear came true.

Some issues:
1. Pacing!!! You would think this would be full of suspense and would be fast paced, but it was the exact opposite. It's so slow! Eye glazingly slow. Pacing is everything, you can have a good storyline but if the pacing is not there then the story will get lost.
2. The lack of characters development, they are too one dimensional.
3. The relationship between the two protagonists. Insta-love/ insta-lust to the point of stupidity. It took her so long to question him about stalking her. Even after he openly admits he's been watching and stalking her, she's okay with it?

Finishing this book was a constant struggle for me. Last Hit was disappointing in terms of the pacing, plot, characters and romance. There is so much potential in it but the execution of the story didn't grabbed my attention.

* The Pacing - Slow pacing to the point of boredom. I put it down several times and considered not finishing it. I skimmed pages because it was excruciatingly boring and wordy. My pacing starts to pick up around 50%-60%.

* Plot - Uneventful, confusing and lacked the thrill. Categorized as romantic suspense, I expect it to be action packed and fast paced. The kind that will give you an adrenalin rush. To my disappointment, it wasn't thrilling. It took me a while to absorb what goes on the Russian mafia / Bratva. Since the hero was an independent contract killer and he has an unfinished business with his former Bratva. I guess the main problem of this book was focusing more on romance than the suspense aspect. I want more history about the Bratva.

* The Characters - Weak protagonists. Daisy Miller was sheltered throughout her life since her mother was murdred. Her father was traumatized by the incident and feared for his life and daughter. Suffocated by his overprotective daughter, she left home. She was naive, immature and at times stupid. She's prone to danger by easily trusting Nikolai. She never realize he's stalking her. As for Nick Anders / Nikolai Andrushko, I don't find him sexy at all for an assassin. He wasn't even badass.

* The Romance - Daisy and Nikolai have a bland chemistry. It was insta-lust for them. I would be more invested if they have more dialogue just to build up their romance and steam.

Will I continue the series? Possibly. It depends on my mood. Overall, this book was disappointing.

200 pages in and I'm giving up. the story is moving way too slow, the writing is disjointed and the story boring. I'm not interested in either Daisy or Nick enough to slog through 500 more pages.

Method: audiobook

Rating: 3/5 stars

H rating: 3.5/5 - Nikolai. Oy vey this guy is definitely a bit psycho, very much obsessed with her but I did feel his care and lover for her through the book..not much growth but ehh. I wasn't expecting it.

h rating: 3/5 - Daisy. Holy Pollyanna. I didn't really like you..leaving your mentally unstable father behind is uncool..on so many levels.

Drama: 4/5 - I found most of the drama was around the need to escape and then her issues with his job.

Thoughts: I don't know..it was interesting and it was a good book, it just didn't really hold my attention much throughout the book. I did really like the narrators voice, so there is that.

DNF at 20%. I just couldn't get into this book or relate to the characters at all. It was a very strange beginning and I would rather not read the rest of it.
