Ryanne and Titus are the main characters in this story and I can say I can't wait for the second book! The way the story starts off to me was a little slow but honestly within a chapter or two it started to pick up right away. I like that the pace that it goes gives you enough time to fall in love with both of the characters and want their love story to actually happen. The only thing I have to say is the fae really get me mad in this story, the way they treated Ryanne got me so mad but I loved it! Because it fit so perfectly in the story.

Honestly I can't wait to see what the second book brings for Ryanne and Titus!

Thank you to Booksirens for offering this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book was riveting and had me enthralled. Ryanne and Bricius were each chaotic on their own, while together they offered much laughter. Titus' internal struggles were heartrending, and seeing him gradually overcome them was joyful. Due to its engaging style, I struggled to put this novel down and I am excited to read the rest of the trilogy.

Touch of Faete - incredible!

I loved this book so much that I finished it in less than six hours. The storytelling entwined with such compelling characters truly sets this book up to succeed. Truly a marvel.

I've been reading this story on and off for a few weeks now, using it as my "story to return to" between other reading deadlines I've had.  I've enjoyed taking a slower pace to get to know these characters and the complexity of their tale.  The growth they have both experienced has been significant, as has their slow burn relationship, and I am eager to see where they go in their next story.

This was a very interesting book with a different plot then most Fae fantasy stories.

It hooked me in right away. The characters are book likeable and not - very grey. I didn't know it was a series until it was almost done and I realized there are plot points that were not answered.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book. I loved that dragon are real and hope they are seen in the future because who doesn't love a good dragon.

If you are looking for spicy I would say look else where. If you are looking for a slow burn romance this is your book!

I am so happy I got an ARC of this book but sad that I know have to wait for this to come out and then the 2nd to come out.

The book literally started with a magical pixie flying around so that immediately set the vibe for me. I knew then that I was in for a magical ride and I was not wrong!

Since it's a dual POV (which I always love!), we get introduced to Ryanne and Titus, who are seemingly very different people who would never have a reason to cross paths, so when it did??? Well, it did not exactly go well for either of them.

Ryanne has been living a double life for a long time, but it seems fate
(or some very meddling powerful fae...)
is finally forcing her to make a decision: live peacefully as a normal human or go on adventures in the fae world. And it seems the key to her future is in the heart (or supposedly lack thereof) of Titus.

Speaking of Titus, the way he speaks totally gives me Jack Sparrow with a touch of Barbossa kind of vibes - I honestly love him!

Plus, he also wields shadows, so really? What more can a girl ask for?
No, seriously, Titus is asking.
What more can a girl ask for because he couldn't seem to get Ryanne!!!

Our girl Ryanne is giving him a hard time catching her,
but then he sold her off to evil science people halfway across the world and absolutely broke her heart.
So I would say that he honestly needed to GROVEL more!!!

But I'm excited for the next book to see where the seas take them next!

I had a hard time rating this one for some reason. I really enjoy fantasy, so I think I'm inclined to enjoy elements of pretty much every book in this genre. I went with a middle-of-the-road rating because I think this book had a lot of give and take in pros and cons, but if half stars were available, I think I would give this 2.5.

First, let's start off with what I liked—I thought the premise of the book was very intriguing once you got to it. It does take a bit of the book to get there, but I enjoyed the charge of the FMC and what she was created to do. I also enjoyed Titus' character development throughout the book. He and Bug were easily my favorite characters in the story.

What I struggled with most in the book was the world-building aspect. I felt like it was rushed and had SO much language that wasn't explained—I kept feeling like I must have missed something. Additionally, it took the story a while to pick up. I felt like it was hard to get into at first, which is interesting because a lot does happen at the beginning of the book, but somehow it just was missing something that kept me excited. Lastly, the immaturity of the FMC was annoying to me for much of the book. At one point, the MMC does explain her immaturity due to the way she is treated by the fae, so honestly, it ended up making sense. I had just spent much of the book being annoyed by it.

The intriguing thing about this review is that despite the lower rating, I still find myself wanting to read the next book. I feel like there is more potential there because I'll already understand the world (which took me a while in this book). Additionally, I believe the second book will be more about Titus' world and background, which I think I'd enjoy after how much I liked him.

Ultimately, if you are a fantasy fan, I'd encourage you to give this a shot and would be intrigued to know if others' thoughts align with mine.

*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I chose this book primarily for the genre, title, and cover art.
I feel that although I love fantasy, maybe I’m not the target audience. This isn’t to say the book was bad by any means, but I did find myself struggling to finish. I felt that although this is marketed as adult, it felt more juvenile. The FMC did not read as 22. Her inner dialogue especially seemed more childish. I appreciated the humor, but it did make her seem less mature. And I didn’t like her use of the word “stud” repetitively. Bug was by far my favorite character, and I wish there had been more development for him!
For starters, I think it would be incredibly helpful to have some type of glossary of the terms used…there wasn’t too much explaining, and I felt lost about a lot of the terms.
I enjoyed the idea of this modern/fantasy/multi dimensional world. But, I wish there had been more time spent on world building. I often felt like I was missing something or that I jumped into this novel halfway through a series.
I also felt that the romance left room for wanting. Since Ryanne was using her visions for seeing the future of romantic connections, it gave the idea that romance would be important in this story. However, the romance between Titus and Ryanne felt forced. Like the first time he tried to kiss her made no sense at all?
At risk of sounding nitpicky, I also noticed that the two times that Davy Jones Locker was mentioned, once locker was capitalized and once it wasn’t. Sergei’s name was also spelt Serguie once. I was quite confused about what Ryanne’s power was, and I would have loved more world building to understand better. I would love to read more about Titus and Bug. I think the idea for this story is interesting, but it just didn’t do it for me.

I absolutely loved this book!
.
It had me hooked from the beginning but it did slow down in the middle and I did have to struggle through maybe a good quarter (there was a lot of scene setting and character building which is usually fine but I was having a low concentration couple of days so I can’t really blame the author for this)
.
By the end I absolutely loved the characters & the story! It’s for sure a slow burner but well worth committing to! I loved it and I’m beyond excited for the next in the series
