Unwinding Anxiety was just okay. It offers a few helpful tips, but I was hoping for something more substantial—especially since I’ve been dealing with stress for, well... basically my whole life.
I’ve been to therapy, and much of what’s in this book echoes what you’d already hear in that setting. It touches on how anxiety can lead to bad habits and offers some ways to interrupt that cycle, but I’m not convinced it would truly help someone who’s really struggling.
What bothered me most is that the author never clearly emphasizes the importance of seeking professional help for severe anxiety. I’m sure there are people in serious distress who might turn to a book like this as a last resort—before doing something harmful or worse. That kind of reader deserves a direct, compassionate message that help is out there and that books like this aren’t a substitute for real support.
That being said, if you’re dealing with mild anxiety or just trying to break a few bad habits, this might be a good book to check out. It offers some useful tools and gentle insights—especially if you’re in a relatively stable place and looking to make small, positive changes.
