Loved the book! I laughed a lot, certain POVs I didn’t need 😂. This book got me out of my reading slump immediately going into the second book.

This book hooked me in the first chapter. I was excited to read about this fantastical Underground world set at a fictitious HBCU (or should I say HBMU- "M" for "Mythical"). Maggie is a strong, 30-year old protagonist, which just didn't fit in with the heavy misogyny present at Drew Collins. I felt that Maggie was infantilized, yet frequently stated that she was grown...

This novel has potential, but also needs a second edition with better editing. There are numerous grammar and syntax errors that make the flow of the story disjointed at certain points. The cliffhanger at the end had me shook, and I'll probably read the second book to see where this goes. Hopefully the misogynistic overtones lessen as the story progresses.

When I was describing this story to my sister, I told her it was Twilight meets Harry Potter meets Stomp the Yard or some other HBCU movie lol. Though this book could have been written better (I caught a couple of typos and grammatical errors). I still enjoyed the book and can't believe it left off with a cliff hanger like that. This was my first read on my e-reader and me getting back into reading digital books. This was a good book for me to start with. Looking forward to starting the second book once I finish (or try to finish) a physical book.

The characters and writing was so over the top but nothing was actually happening

I loved everything about this book! I just wish I could read it again for the first time!! I agree with another reviewer that this is “like Twilight and Harry Potter if Hogwarts was an HBCU”. I have my speculations about who the mystery person is but I’ll hold off to see if I’m right. I was able to get this audiobook in addition to the ebook. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get book on audiobook as soon as it’s released. Great performance by both narrators. I’d also love to get the physical copies. Highly recommended!!!

The concept was so interesting, but fell a part for me. I found the characters fun, but then also infuriating. Like I thought they were giving found family, but then would be so uglyy. Asha was making me crazy!

There was a lot going on, which wasn't a problem for me at first. The multiple povs were an adjustment, but simple enough to not be a drawback. It was a choice to use multiple povs to give motivations and reveal the duplicity of certain characters, and not one that I think paid off towards the end.

I like Maggie's plot a lot and really wish it didn't get so mangled towards the end. Pretty much hated how everyone moved after the party. I both want to know how it ends, but unsure if I could get through the next book.

Shout-out Quan! Perfection. No notes!

I really enjoyed this one which is why I gave it a high rating. The Secret World of Maggie Grey had moments a emotion and funny. I enjoyed Quan's banter. My favorite character may be between Asha and Maggie.   I ready to move forward with book 2!
