Zach and Kiera would appear to be opposites. She's a certified nerd, a designer for a popular MMOPG called Leokin, and would prefer to spend her days and nights holed up working on the game.
Zach, on the other hand, is a hero. An EMT who is working not only to save the lives of others, but to try and keep his family together after the loss of his sister. His mother's alcoholism has gotten worse and all his youngest sister does is mope around playing online. He knows that can't be healthy.
But Zach and Kiera meet when her friends drag her out (they promise anywhere she wants to go so she chooses the local gaming Con) and the ceiling of the roof collapses. When Zach sees Kiera, she's literally sparkling from gold paint. And then... it gets a bit ooky. He's described as wanting to be "in the center" where all the action is (this is a real EMT feeling, especially for those who go in because they want to "save lives" rather than help people and fits in with Zach's personality) but then he gets distracted from his job, his job to save hurt people, by Kiera. Yes, I get that EMTs can't be laser focused the whole time, but most of the ones I've worked with are. At least the good ones and that's what I think Zach is supposed to be set up as.
Don't get me wrong. I liked that he was flawed. And I liked that even though he was trying to save his sister, he was doing it in a wrong way that he didn't see. I also liked that she was trying to save him right back. But the whole way that Zach and Kiera's relationship started was... not good. And I liked that Nicholas included the notion that not always being online is bad because you can form real relationships with people. But Oh. My. God. It was repeated over and over and over again. A lighter touch might have made the message more powerful.
Overall, I really did like this story and appreciated what Nicholas was trying to do. I'm looking forward to reading about Kiera's roommates.

PSA: GO READ THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW.

I abso-freaking-lutely LOVED Completely Yours by Erin Nicholas. It's sweet, charming, and will leave you with a smile on your face. Erin Nicholas weaves a story that you can truly immerse yourself in as the characters are genuine with real and retable issues. Zach and Kiera are complete opposites (a basketball-playing EMT and a gun-shy gamer and graphic designer), and their journey to love is already one I want to take again. But it's not just the main couple that stole my heart. Zach's sister, Kiera's friends--I have mad love for them all. Also, if you're not already a total geek like me, you'll become one after reading this book. Never have I read a romance novel where the gaming community has been so prevalent and beautifully addressed. I can't wait for more in the series! Now brb as I already plan my "Kirenda, Warrior Princess of Leokin" costume for Halloween. And here's hoping I find myself a pirate as great as Zach!

It's always nice when a book you remember being really fun stands up well to a re-read.

The first time I read this, I devoured it, enjoying the nerdy heroine and the intrigued hero who tries to understand the depth of her fannish enjoyment. It also deals quite a bit with the depth of long-term, online friendships, which is not something you see often in adult fiction, or at least, not in romance. Reading it made me realize I want to see a lot more like this in my contemporary romances--I hadn't fully realized what I was missing until I saw it beautifully executed.

This second time through, I took a bit more time to break it down and analyze it before diving into my fourth foray into NaNoWriMo. Reading it again made me realize how well she deployed several very familiar romance tropes in spite of the unconventionality of its heroine--the first trope is in the series name: Opposites Attract. There's also a Fake Relationship. And possibly the first Alpha Hero I could actually stand (that's really not my trope of choice, but here, Zach's need to be in control of everything stems from well-executed insecurities about needing to be needed and wanting to fix everyone else's problems).

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book in the Opposites Attract series by Erin Nicholas, and the two main characters were certainly opposites. Zach was an alpha male hero type, who feels like he has to take care of everyone he cares about, to the point of pushing family members and close friends away with his meddling. Kiera was a shy gamer girl, who pushes everyone away and would rather stay at home and work on coding and playing video games.

Zach and Kiera meet when the convention center holding a local con collapses. Zach, an EMT, goes in to help people and finds Kiera stunned but not hurt. His protective instincts kick in and he refuses to leave her alone, even though there are others who need help. They both feel instant attraction. They slowly start to fall for each other, but his need to provide everything for her and his not understanding of her interests cause some issues. Slowly, he realizes that she needs her alone time and they manage to make it work.

This was a cute love story. There wasn't any crazy amount of drama, which was nice. I did find Zach a little overbearing, but it worked for their relationship. He did try to understand her interests, and they ended up bonding over things he didn't think he would like.

Great story! More intensely emotional than I was expecting and that's always a good thing. Erin Nicholas took two people, Kiera and Zach, both of whom are a little emotionally damaged for different reasons, brought them together and created a fun, emotional and sexy romance. She's a master at doing that! Even though these two characters couldn't have been more different from each other, it really works. The story snags you in the beginning and doesn't let you go until the last page. The verbal foreplay was sizzling!

This is a fantastic start to a new series, Opposites Attract. I look forward to WHATEVER this author comes out with next.

The sub-title of the series is "Opposites Attract" so I was expecting opposites. Unfortunately, I never really believed the attraction with Kiera, a game designer into cosplay, and Zach, an EMT with a hatred of the gaming lifestyle that he feels is destroying his younger sister's life.

I was hoping for more. A lot of the book felt one dimensional to me, as if the author was using the idea that Kiera was a geek as all of her character. There were moments where a personality was apparent...but for the most part, I felt the stereotype of who Kiera should be, because she is a gamer, was all of who she was. She hit all of the stereotypes, but had none of the nuance that the people who game (I know a few) have in my personal life...so I found that I was not able to connect with her completely. This pulled me out of the story.

I also thought the solution andsituation with his sister and family was resolved too easily for the depth of it. And, I thought his reaction at the end was childish and was actually a bit of a turn off for me. I felt like I was watching the temper tantrum of a child.

That said, I finished this instead of DNF as I liked the premise and I had a lot of hope. Unfortunately, that hope was not realized for this one.

I am not able to recommend this book.

This was kind of the book equivalent of getting mostly vanilla in a bowl of Neapolitan ice cream; it's good, but there's better stuff available.
It was fairly well written, but pretty low on a whole lot of plot development. The characters were ok also well, but not particularly multidimensional.
My biggest issue is that right at the start, the hero is basically trying to pick up a chick at a disaster scene. You're an EMT dude, you have more important things to do than wax lyrical about a victim's brown eyes. And the heroine went from super shy to straddling a guy she had just met that day in less than 12 hours.

I've somehow missed other books from Erin Nicholas, but when I read the blurb for Completely Yours, I knew I had to read this book. I absolutely adored Erin Nicholas's voice and look forward to reading many more books from her in the future.

Kiera and Zach had a pretty great connection from the moment they met even though they are so very different. Kiera is a total gamer geek and Zach is pretty opposed to gaming because it is all his sister Aimee has done for months. The fact that Kiera is the graphic designer for Aimee's favorite video game could have been a major issue, but somehow once Zach discovered the truth, he was okay with it.

I really loved how different Kiera and Zach were and yet felt like they made a really incredible couple. They had amazing chemistry and while I thought they would have more spice in their love making, I loved the sweetness of their romance and relationship. I loved that Kiera got Zach pretty much from the very beginning. Zach took longer to really understand Kiera, but I loved how hard he tried and how he stepped outside his comfort zone to learn about Kiera's life and understand everything. I think it made them a stronger couple in the end.

I really enjoyed Completely Yours. It was a wonderful story and a sweet and adorable romance. I look forward to reading more books in the Opposites Attract series.

Cute and fluffy, like a Hallmark movie with your second two favorite leads.

While I felt chemistry between Kiera and Zach, this didn't feel like a romance that needed 280 pages. Much of the troubles between the two could be solved fairly quickly if the added obstacles of Zach's hero complex (as in he needs to fix everything so everyone is happy) and family issues weren't in the mix. Neither of which I think were important enough to derail the romance as often as they did.
