I had issues with what Apollo was doing from the very beginning and then it just got worse. I think Ilsa handled it okay in the beginning and then she just kinda took it and Apollo was the biggest jerk and then nope. I was done.

KA books sometimes act as palate cleansers, where you can just read or even skim occasionally and nothing is missed. It doesn't demand anything from me as a reader but serves to wipe my brain clean of any lingering book hangover. It's fine while reading it, even mildly engaging but totally forgettable. This wasn't even that. It was punishingly boring and tedious.

I still enjoyed this story but the biggest issue it seemed they had to overcome was how they both treat the kids in this new relationship. Apollo didn't see anything wrong with jumping them into near madness and that does bite him in the tush later but Ilsa* didnt broach the subject again after her big reveal. Clearly they talked about it later but it was alot further along in the book than I would have put that conversation if this was real life vs fantasy. I think Ilsa* spending time doing different things would've made her trying to find herself more believable for Apollo who didn't understand.

I am actively trying to like this series. My problem is not the adult fairy tale aspect of this book. My problem is that while trying to portray what the author refers to as "alpha males" she ends up making the lead females doormat like. While I am hardly the poster girl for "I am Woman, hear me Roar" this is a recurrent problem in this series. I like a lot about these series (since this is book 4)- I like a little fantastical magic, and am intrigued at a lot of things, but I am getting disgusted with a lot too. Why do these women keep putting up with it? I don't think Stockholm syndrome happens in 2 days. Arrgh. The things I really like about Kristen Ashley are still in these books, but this railroading of the female leads is getting to me.

Didn’t like this one as much as I’d hoped. Most of her male character are the same but I usually like that. In this case, Apollo felt false. And although I felt sympathy for Illsa, she irritated me with her waffling.

This is a typical KA book but parallel universe style.
This is my least favourite of this series.
Apollo for me challenges the most faithful die hard fans. He brings alternate Ilsa to his world where her version of Apollo is an abusive thug of a husband.
He is pinning for his dead wife, his version of Ilsa and he is surprised that as she looks identical that there are problems, for him and his children.
He does many things wrong, he does redeem himself but for me he is not very likeable.
It is strongly connected to the previous books in the series, although each couple have a book, the main enemy fight runs as a thread through the series and comes to a conclusion in this book.
My response is always Don t get me started on Apollo.
