Re-read 17/7/2020 Changing my first rating from 3 star DNF on 4 stars.

I binge-read first three books from this series. New review you can find here

Well, I like it but I didn't finish it.
I like the story and suspense but Madison started to annoy me. And the fact that this story does not end with this book is another reason why I did not finish reading it. I mean, I would like to know how Madison's story ends, but not enough to bother with another book in this series. I do not even know if I'll remember what had happened in this book before the next appears. I do not like to read one story at such large intervals. especially when there are such cliffhangers. So I prefer to finish it now.

Omg

This story seems pretty dark twisted steamy and intense. Their are so many twists and turns that it makes fast pace read that has you reading in one setting.

This book answered a lot of questions...and created more. My biggest question for this series is "how will it end?!" Happy for Madison I hope but jeez these books are dark and I just don't know which way book three will swing: good or bad.

Just like The Silver Swan, The Broken Puppet is another dark and addictive read that kept me engaged from page one. In this one though there's more sparks of romance popping out. By the end there is a kinda happy ending in sight for the next book..I think. I feel less scared for Madison in this one for sure.

The reason it is a 4 star and not a 5 one is because I felt like this book had a lot more filler in it. Book 1 started the mystery and 3 will conclude it. This one just makes more questions arise. I felt a lot more of the plot was thrown in as a new ideas emerged for the author and at times, I felt like it wasn't needed (i.e.: her new family member). Either way the book was still fantastic and I can't wait to see how the series ends!

Why did I read the second one? Why, just why? I have never read such a bad book; such a bad series. I’m not going to waste my money on the third book. This series is fucking disgusting.

1. The. Geography. Is. Bad.

"“We’re going to New Zealand? Couldn’t you choose a different country, like, I don’t know… Dubai?”
I turn to face her. “And where do you think they’ll look first, Tate?” [...]
“And besides,” I add, “I haven’t even heard of New Zealand. I doubt Bishop has."

"“Have you decided where we’re going next?” [...]
“Mmmm, Milan?”
“Spain?” I ask, shocked."

Yes, I'm shocked aswell. You're telling she's never heard about New Zealand - or Italy?
I'm not sure if it's intentional to portray that whole ignorant American girl image or if they just don't know it.

2. Hector Hayes saying he doesn't condone rape makes no sense considering the initiation process consisting of rape and murder.

Hold on tight! From the very first chapter of book one, the Elite Kings Club sunk its claws into me. It's like falling down a rabbit hole – you're in, it's gripping, and there's no way out until you see the whole wild ride through!

Going into these books you KNOW that it's going to be a mind-f. And that is why you read them - it's expected! And that is why you keep going.

Dark and twisty is my jam. The messed-up stuff? Bring it on! Don't get me wrong, the violence and depravity are there, but it's all grounded by these complex characters with surprising limitations, even if those limits are way out there. I was hooked the entire time, but let me tell you, the ending left me with just as many questions as I started with!
