I think nostalgia accounts for a star and a half of my rating...

This play wasn't written by JK Rowling and unfortunately it shows. The story is ok, with some good ideas, but there is a lot of cheesy dialogues that we could have done without. It is not a bad book per se, but I hesitated between giving it a 2 or a 3.

1) it's never going to be like the original series
2) it was amazing to get back into this world and enjoy it for what it was

I wouldn't say I'm the biggest Harry Potter fan, but I did really enjoy the series. I wasn't going to pick this up, but my brother happened to buy it, and I figured why not when it is just lying around. This can't really be compared however since it isn't a book, it's a script for a play. A play cannot possibly be compared to novels. There isn't detail in a play because it is supposed to be performed. It is purely dialogue with occasional stage directions. So keeping that in mind, I think it is a good story. It felt more like a fanfiction because we get to revisit all our favorite characters and places and such things and see a few things we always wanted. Still, it is thought out fairly well. It took awhile for me to really understand where it was trying to go, but once there, I did enjoy what they decided to do with it. It is also comforting to know that their lives continued and weren't perfect after the books. They are still very real, and their stories will continue to go on down to our children. If you felt the series ended well enough, then don't feel compelled to read this. However, if you was to see those favorite characters one last time and know that their story doesn't just end, then by all means do. It has something to offer.

Not many things are wrong with this book but an important one is the book itself!

★☆☆☆☆ - This is very bad. Don't waste your time reading it.

I know there is a controversy (if I can call it that way) concerning [a:J.K. Rowling|1077326|J.K. Rowling|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1596216614p2/1077326.jpg] nowadays, but I'm not gonna talk about it and I didn't give this book a one-star review because of her.

This book is incredibly bad. I first read it when it was published in 2016 and, strangely, I had completely forgotten the story. So I decided to read it again in 2021. What a mistake.
Calling this just a fanfiction would be insulting for all the authors writing super good fanfictions. This book is more like a super badly written fanfiction made by a 12 year-old .
Where should I start?
The trolley witch is throwing grenades.
WHY? What is that? It doesn't make any sense. I don't even understand how [a:J.K. Rowling|1077326|J.K. Rowling|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1596216614p2/1077326.jpg] agreed with that.
All the "time turner" thing is completely f*cked up.
Again, it just doesn't make sense and destroyed the logic in the Harry Potter's books.
Spoiler Voldemort had a daughter with Bellatrix, seriously what the f*ck
When was Bellatrix pregnant in the books? Can someone tell me because I didn't remember that and it just doesn't make sense AGAIN.

The only positive thing in this book is that Slytherin isn't described as a bad house anymore. Also, the Malfoys are the best characters (thanks to Draco and Scorpius for being better than everyone else). Harry became a total asshole by the way, Hermione is useless, Ron is super stupid and Ginny is just invisible.
If you're a Harry Potter fan, please don't read it, it will destroy your childhood.

I went in with low expectations but, in the end, I enjoyed it. It definitely reads like a book written for fans. But I don't mind that so much.

A nice glimpse into the future (present?) and "what could have been".
