This book was amazing, probably the best faerie tale I have read. I am really looking forward to the next one! If only my library had it. :) I love how she tries to stay away from him at the end, and the whole love connection between the Winter Girl and Summer King. I also liked her friends, they were pretty funny when it came to the Summer King. I didn't like how he got her drunk on the faerie juice, and then she started changing. But I loved this book, way more then I thought I would, and that made it ten times better for me.

You need a really good imagination to read this book.

Reading all the other reviews before I started this book made it clear it is a hate or love it book.

I'm one of the lovers. It is a easy read, but it is a page turner. Ash is one of the few people who can see the fairies. Her mom could, and her gran. But as far as she know nobody else.
There some rules to help her coup with the fairies. Like the can't handle to much iron. Lucky her, her best friend lives in a old train which he build to a home.

This book has like many ya books a love story involving multiple persons.. in this case 4... You have Seth who love Ash, Ash who loves Seth, The summer King who loves Ash and the winter girl who loves the summer king..
But Ash is the new summer queen, she has to be... The way they fix it is actually pretty cool. And a way to show even if you are stuck with something you have to do, you can alter it. Way to go Melissa!

I'm really curious about the second book of the series.

Like I said, I liked the book, but have some problems with it.. Like the fact that Seth lives in a train and his parents are gone.. How old is he? Isn't there some child support that should take care of him in case his parents leave? Or like a gaurdian?

DID NOT FINISH

Yet another Young Adult book I never actually got around to finishing. I'm not one hundred percent sure why I gave up on this, mainly because I don't remember much beyond a handful of characters and one plot event that I'm still fuzzy on. I tried this out right after reading Julie Kagawa's The Iron King, another book revolving around faeries, so maybe I was comparing Wicked Lovely to that and found it lacking.

This isn't the typical kind of book I'd enjoy. There was little action, almost no humour, and a lot of annoying friends. Looking past all that, I did like the book a lot. I didn't think I would like it compared to other faerie series, since I have already read books by Holly Black and Karen Marie Moning and liked their own spin on the faerie world. But I really enjoyed it.

3.5 Slow start-

Aislinn has always been able to see faeries, but has never let on to it. This is one of the rules that her grandmother instated when Aislinn first mentioned the faeries. She always abides by this rule in fear that if the wrong faerie finds out, there will be grave punishments. Life is good for Aislinn until she begins to be stalked by two faeries, one of whom happens to be the Summer King Keenan. Keenan has been in search of a queen for centuries, but just can't seem to find the right girl. Yes, many girls have been swooned by his looks and attempted to be the prized Summer Queen, but they have all failed either becoming Summer girls, who are sultry faeries, or are filled with winter and become Winter Princesses. When Keenan meets Aislinn though he knows she is the one. Not only because of her ability to resist him, but that his mother, Beira the Winter Queen, is very afraid of her because of her abilities. As for Aislinn she wants nothing to do with the faerie world. She is content being a teenager. The only thing is she can't seem to figure out is her relationship with her best friend Seth. They've been friends for a long time, but she's not sure if she only likes him as a friend anymore. He is constantly flirting with her and seems to be sending out mixed messages. What is a girl to do? Putting her feelings on the back burner for a few days Aislinn enlists Seth's help to deal with the faeries. She wants them to leave her alone, but she seems to have an irking feeling that maybe it wouldn't be so bad to help them out. With the help of Seth Aislinn learns that she can be in control of the situation and starts to see if she can make the best out of the situation and make everyone happy.

This was an absolute gem to read. Everything about it was beyond amazing. Isn't the cover fantastic too? I must admit I have never been keen to read faerie books, but Wicked Lovely left me craving for more of the faerie world. To me the story was completely original and the writing was phenomenal. Melissa Marr slowly reeled me in from the first page and left me dangling throughout most of the book. It wasn't until the very end that everything came together. Also the names used in the book are so original and creative. Aislinn's character was great. I felt like I had a connection with her, not that we seem to be alike, but there was just something there. This was a great debut novel and I cannot wait to read more of Melissa's writing. Ink Exchange comes out at the end of April. I strongly recommend this book to everyone and anyone, whether you like faerie tales or not. This is truly a unique book that I think everyone will love.

Slow, I fell asleep twice reading it. And then the ending pissed me off. This book did not have to be made into a series. Ash could have made a choice and that could have been the end of it. Instead there's a Shakespearean Midsummer Nights Dream meets The Taming of the Shrew. Seth likes Ashlinn who likes Seth and Kennan who likes Ashlinn and Donia who loves Kennan vibe going on that makes me angry. I'm thinking I'm too old to be reading these books, because I have a hard time suspending my belief in the premise. I really liked Seth though and was totally rooting for him throughout the book. He knew what he wanted and was going for it. 2 thumbs up.

While this series is one of my favorite of all time, the first book was one of my least favorite of the bunch. I found Aislinn annoyingly helpless and her relationship with Seth is so wishy-washy that I just wanted the romance to be out of the book. I despise Keenan (I despise him until the last chapter of the last book in the series) but I do love Donia and her journey to becoming a truly tough queen throughout the books; it's great to see where she started in this initial story. I would probably like this much more if the other books in the Wicked Lovely series were less fantastic.
