Wow. Hated this one. So much hand-wringing. Just couldn't stick with it.

This was a great start for the whole Eve Duncan story. I liked the fact the romance factor was not overused as compared to other mystery and thriller novels. I can't wait to keep up with the story!

I starting reading this series because I saw the trilogy [b:Eve|8702806|Eve|Iris Johansen|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1312003370s/8702806.jpg|13575598], [b:Quinn|9789566|Quinn|Iris Johansen|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1317067431s/9789566.jpg|14679600], and [b:Bonnie|9789572|Bonnie|Iris Johansen|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1314903168s/9789572.jpg|14679606] at the bookstore and wanted to read them. Well, I decided to check on goodreads first and good thing I did because obviously I found out that these characters were part of the bigger Even Duncan series. So now I'm reading this series from the beginning. I have to say I really just knew the basics going in. Eve is a facial sculpter and has been since the abduction and death of her daughter years before. She still mourns and feels guilty about the loss of her daughter and hopes to one day recover and identify her body. I think that this storyline runs throughout the series, but each book features a different case for Eve to solve.

I've never really been one to read crime thrillers. I just didn't think I would enjoy them. I thought that this book was good and I think what makes me want to continue on with the series is the backstory with all the characters. I'm very interested to see how they grow and what life throws at them.

I thought that the mystery was done really well. Even though we figured out who did it early on, it was interesting to see how things unfolded and how our main characters would prevail.

I look forward to continuing this series, and I would recommend them to anyone who likes good crime novel.

This was a really interesting take on the forensic fiction genre, which has been quite exhausted at this point. Using a forensic sculptor as a main character was a good choice that automatically adds suspense to any plot point.

A good read. Story was fast-paced and easy to follow. However, I still never really warmed up to Eve. I'll probably read more in the series to see if my mind changes about her.

I got halfway through before I realized I was only halfway through. At which point I felt exhausted at the prospect of continuing. I feel like the plot is being stretched out far too much. I'm also currently reading a number of books that just are appealing to me more. And at the end of the day (or during the course of one), I'd rather hang out with the other fictional detectives I've been reading about.

I thought that the author may have written romance novels prior to this because this has all of the pathetic earmarks of a romance novel. Rich eligible caring bachelor falls head over heels for a talented and beautiful, but injured, woman. Pad the book with endless back and forth: I won't work for you! Yes you will! I won't! You will! No, I won't. Yes, you will. Nuh-uh I won't. Yuh-huh you will. Except make that back and forth emotionally abusive from the woman because that means she's a tough cookie, right? And it makes her OH so much more attractive when she says things like, "Get out. Don't bother me. Goodbye." Yeah. Such a charming woman. Any man would obviously go nuts over her. And then she always caves. She just likes to bitch, I guess. And the doofus man who is showering money on her even when she misses the most elementary of clues from the very start - well - he just takes it. People like this make me want to vomit whether they're fictional or not. What a stupid book.

Good, fast mystery. Not too predictable but not too complicated either. A good beach read or mindless afternoon.
