There are quite a few romance tropes, and second chances is one of them and is definitely a favorite of mine. Jace Wilder was certain that he and Taryn Hillman would build a future together. Instead, one day she left. Now she is back again and this time she is hiding a secret. Jace has never really gotten over Taryn and when he discovers that she is in danger, he tries to put his feelings aside and is determined to help her, and perhaps find a way to trust her after she broke his heart.

Taryn had little choice but to return to Clearview after experiencing trauma. This brings her back into former love Jace's life. While dealing with issues that are plaguing Taryn, she and Jace soon find that fighting their feelings proves to be an impossible task.. Instead, they deal with the problems at hand, all while rebuilding their relationship.

A Cowboy Kind of Love is a great addition to a series that I have enjoyed since the very first book, The Christmas Cowboy Hero. Donna Grant writes the storeis in this series with great protagonists, drama and suspense, and I definitely enjoyed each book and am eager to see what next she has in store for her readers.

Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

ARC received via Netgalley for an honest review

Well, I was looking forward to Jace's story, but to me it was just meh.

It dragged quite a bit, and I just couldn't with Taryn. I hated how he was still hung up on her after she up and left. I hated that whe it was about her, she turned up and dragged him into her crap - then ever 2.3 seconds was saying "I don't want you to get involved in this" - girl, please *insert eye roll*

Jace is way, and i mean >i>waaaaaytoo good for Taryn, and I hate that he gets sucked in by her again, and again, and again. Dear God man, run as far and as fast as you can!

I did love seeing the guys and gals from the previous books, and this one really was the anomoly in the series for me.

Talk about intense!

Romance and suspense, anyone? This book has got it all, plus cowboys! I mean, you can't go wrong, that's the perfect recipe. This book is great for anyone who wants some danger in their romance because wow! I was on the edge of my seat the majority of this book! It was actually fun to experience!

This is the sixth book of a series but I've read it as a standalone and enjoyed it all the same. I have a feeling Ryan's story is next and I'm super excited for it!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the earc in return for an honest review.

Just love reading a true second-chance romance, even more when it is romantic suspense, and there are cowboys putting it over the top, excellent – but wait…. there is even more! Jack and Taryn have been separated for 5 years – their love was the truest ever found by both, but Taryn packed up and left with just a text to Jace – it is obvious they both still love each other 5 years later, so what is up?

Fortunately, Taryn, who is in serious trouble, had to return to Clearwater – Jace’s home turf – but it’s not to see Jace, going out of her way to avoid him at all costs - even though there is a half a million reasons not to. This story has it all. Intrigue, suspense along with some surprising twists and turns – and then there is the smoldering love and passion underlying it all. I was honestly surprised at some of the plot twists that played out, even beyond the hints mid-story. Could not put it down as the plot twists ran all the way to the end. A great sixth installment to the series, but this story stands on its own!

She vanished a few years ago and he's been heart broken ever since. He was about to propose and the pain is real.
A few years later she is back, does he hate her or feel angry or just relieved? She needs to tell her story of danger.
He didn't see that coming and is determined to help her, he and all his friends and their connections have to fight the enemy so she can live her life, preferably with him.
A lot of suspense and danger as the story roller coasters to the end, just when it all feels safe it may well not be.
Great story and likeable characters.

I have been reading the Heart of Texas series for a while now. So when I received an email about reading ‘A Cowboy Kind of Love’, the sixth book in the series, I just couldn’t say no.

In ‘A Cowboy Kind of Love’ we read the story of Jace Wilder, a character I have been curious about since reading about him in the previous books. Jace has been trying to make something of his life ever since the woman he loved just left him without an explanation five years ago. Some days he is doing well, and other days he just can’t deal and tries to drown his sorrows in booze. But then Taryn unexpectedly returns to town and even after all these years there is a lot of chemistry between them.

When Taryn first came back into Jace his life, he was understandable upset. But he seemed to forgive Taryn rather quickly. They haven’t been together in five years, but they sure seem to get back right to where things ended. Yes, Taryn is in danger, but I really didn’t expect Jace to forgive Taryn so fast. And even Jace’s friends seem to accept that Taryn is back without much thought. I really didn’t get that and because of it I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I’d hoped.

But still, this book was enjoyable and it read easily. The suspense part was fun, and although I felt like this part could have been a little longer as well.. It got me curious how things would end. And the suspense part made several of the previous main characters reappear. So that was definitely fun.

Characters wise I really liked Jace. He really had something about him that made me like him from the start. He is just so good for Taryn. Maybe even too good! But I loved reading about him and how he took care of Taryn. Taryn’s character on the other hand wasn’t someone I could really connect with. I just didn’t really get her.

Overall ‘A Cowboy Kind of Love’ was a fun read. Why there is the word ‘Cowboy’ in the title beats me though. I don’t really recall reading about any Cowboy stuff in this book.

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

What I enjoy about the Heart of Texas series is that while yes they are cowboy romances, they are more than just a feel good story. These cowboys have military backgrounds and the situations them and their loves find themselves in are not a walk in the park.

Jace is still a wreck from Taryn leaving him unexpectedly 5 years ago. Then she just shows up out of the blue, and she is wrapped up in a whole lot of no good. She needs half a million dollars to save her and her sister from a drug lord . I know , crazy right?!? But I was here for it lol

"An inferno of need and a longing so intense, so potent that the rest of the world ceased to exist, engulfed her. Jace kissed her as he did everything else - with ever that he had and was."

I want a Jace, that man loved hard and never gave up on his feelings for Taryn. He was capable and loving and damn sexy. Taryn took me longer to warm up to because her entire backstory is just bananas. Together though they were sweet and the intimacy between them was hot. I loved seeing the familiar couples from previous books. This group of friends are more like a big family whose there for one another no matter what.

"He had loved without her, and he had been miserable. She made his life better, brighter. She was the other half of his soul."

A Cowboy Kind of Love
is a second chance western romance with high stakes suspense, off the charts steam, and one hell of an ending plot twist. I hope Donna Grant will be releasing more in this series because there's a few more bachelors who need to find love.

This was a fast and suspenseful read that reminded me of Maya Banks KGI series - but a little less steamy. I like the friendship between Jace and his friends. I loved how they rallied around Taryn and worked tirelessly to get her out of her situation. I struggled a little with the fast change from mad to in love but when it's a second chance, sometimes that works out faster than you expect! rounded up from 3.5
