I enjoyed this story a lot more than the first ebook in the trilogy. Neither is long and demanding reading, but the characters in this story felt more realistic and complex than in the previous book. (I skipped book 2 for now, even though I bought a bundle with all three, because the blurb hasn't caught my fancy yet.). I appreciated the diversity demonstrated in the trilogy in general--in this story, it's truly impressive: Asian-American switch/ submissive amputee hero with a heroine who is described as African American, although not really specified, and who is also an extreme, awkward, happy extrovert. Since they're interacting with the previous books' heroes, there are also Hispanic and Asian and Indian characters. Sated is certainly a creative and unique entry into the short erotic romance story category, with edging and fisting and Families and a hero who is a switch preferring submission and some other less common (for erotic romance novels) sexual activities. With a heroine who is super fit and super "dorky" (actually geeky--she's really into a sci-fi series, for example), who can't contain her energy or her thoughts, and reminds one of an excitable puppy sometimes. With a pyrotechnics consultant Asian-American amputee hero. With main characters who are actually pretty comfortable in their own skins. It's all just new and creative, especially as a whole, and while it won't ever be my favorite story, I give it credit for being an interesting and surprisingly effective addition to the genre. I guess I'll eventually have to give Tamed a try too, and keep an eye out for whatever else Ms. Weatherspoon has to offer.

Easily my favorite book of the series. The hero a hot Korean-American guy and uses a hand prosthesis - when have you ever seen that in a book, romance or otherwise? The heroine is utterly herself and Daniel loves her for that exact reason. In the middle I got a little meh on the conflict but Weatherspoon quickly righted the ship.

This is also the first BDSM romance I've seen with a switch protagonist that convinces the other protagonist to try both submission and domination. It makes for a neat dynamic.

I wanted a sure thing after a couple of DNFs and Weatherspoon comes through again - it's fun to watch Daniel and Keira fall in love.

Oh this book was exactly what I needed. I was just engrossed from the get-go with this book and the only reason I didn't binge read it in one sitting is that I was sick and needed to get some rest.

I only had a little trepidation about the BDSM elements, mostly because it's not my scene IRL and some books I've read before were WAY outside my comfort zone. YMMV, but I found this book pushed me just enough outside my comfort zone to be okay. It was clear the characters really enjoyed what they did, and were incredibly thoughtful about how the other experienced it. Keira was also proactive in learning more about the things Daniel had talked about, so all in all it was a beautifully portrayed example of how to get involved with a person who is into BDSM. And it was hot to boot!

The trouble that the couple ran into is one that just about any couple can run into (not telling someone about something you ought to have told them about earlier), and it was believable from both sides. I did find the time jumps a little jarring sometimes, but I think it avoided unnecessary detail, so in the end I was okay with them.

Will definitely read this again and I'm looking forward to reading more of this author's backlist. I could swear I've read something by her before, but it looks like I've got a lot of reading ahead!

I really wanted to like this more. I think if it had another 40-50K words and dug into the characters in they way they deserved, this would be a shoe-in for 5 stars. This is the bones of a great novel and I will own that my enjoyment is probably hindered by me reading this and none of the other novellas first. I'm hoping a lot more world building happened in those stories because it did not happen in this book.

And I will say that I am sad at how choppy and disjointed this ended up being. I thought Kiera was great! I loved that she was explicitly nerdy and in to fandom. I loved her online bestie and that she figured herself out pretty well, but was super in to learning and self-exploration.

But.

There needed to be a whole heap more put into her continued life. Her friend disappeared when she seemed like she'd have been a good sounding board for Kiera to bounce the evolution of her BDSM awakening. Heck, if there'd been an on-page conversation between Kiera and her eventual mentor, that would have helped a lot. OR if there'd been more of a conversation between Daniel and Kiera at the end, this would have been a lot better.

Actually, let's also talk about Daniel. Because he's a mess. Not exactly in his actions? But in the way he is executed as a character. As written, he is incredibly flat and one note. Which is not how the novella starts at all? His intro is very strong! He has a job, he has a brother, he has friends and loves his mom. He's also a switch who's heavy involved with a kink club and who is upper echelon in said club. But it's when that's brought in that he just gets flattened out to only being that. Which would be a cool thing to explore, but it just doesn't get explored. We have minimal exposure to Daniel in any of his roles after the sex starts. His job happens, kinda, but we have only one interaction between him and one of the club characters (other than Armando, but we don't get DANIEL and his convo's, just Kiera walking in or her POV.) And while Evelyne is cool as hell, it smacks of tell not show. Most of Daniel is tell, not show, and the two VERY jarring time jumps (which are kinda hand waved emotionally when they absolutely should NOT BE) do not help this in the slightest.

As it stands, this feels like a book written on a deadline where the author just didn't have time to finish the full book before turning it in. And that's frustrating because she IS good. Weatherspoon is VERY good. I want more of her words and worlds and more than anything, that's why this novella disappointed me.

I will definitely keep an eye on this author, but will likely only try again when she releases a full-length book.

Rebekah Weatherspoon's books are total wish fulfillment. Not only when it comes to the sex, but especially when it comes to relationships.

It was a good story but I just could NOT warm up to the male lead. He had a lot of personality flaws that I've seen in the community which I find INTENSELY annoying. He's a well written character with a lot of realism just...blah. Loved the heroine, so like a lot of my friends.

ok this was super cute too like the rest of the series BUT it focused more on the full on kink/bdsm stuff and the conflict of the book revolved around that so we saw a little less about the character’s other interests. also, the time does jump forward a couple weeks so we miss kind of the home life interactions and i wanna read that! like i would literally pay to read more about keira and daniel just laying in bed, cuddling and watching Galaxis!

I had fun!

I started this novella because I wanted a quick bite of a story, and this ended up satisfying wholly! Kiera is so fun and funny and she constantly cracked me up. I love Daniel and the way he and Kiera interact is so fun and lovely. Just all around a super sweet, sexy story that hit just the right spot!
