I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and am quite saddened to see that this is the only volume produced. Ichabod is a fascinating character (or characters), and the jury is still out on whether he is truly a monster hunter, or the monster himself.

The art is what initially drew me in to this story, and it never disappointed. I've read many horror comics that have attempted the dark, gory mess aesthetic, but few pull it off the way Podestá has. As another reviewer pointed out, some of the characters can be difficult to distinguish at times, but the artist utilizes trademark physical qualities to help us find our way. It wasn't something that I found problematic, personally.

I'll sign this review off with my favourite eerie moment from the book, which will forever leave yearning to dive deeper into the dark depths of this profound character.

Ichabod Jones was a beautifully illustrated work. I spent a while staring at the panels, enjoying the artistry (aside from the brutal, bloody pieces - not generally my cup of tea).

This story was either a psychotic fantasy or a post-apocalyptic horror novel. I sometimes felt like I knew, and then the author would throw in something else and I'd be confused again. I know some people enjoy that kind of ambiguity, but I tend to prefer an answer at the end. Still, it was a fascinating story and I wanted more of Ichabod when all was said and done. Really, it was that wanting that kept me from giving it more stars - I get that it was complete, and yet, it didn't feel complete.

That said, I'd recommend this to any graphic novel or apocalypse fans (because while I still can't decide what it was, that apocalypse flair is unmistakable).

This book should be better known. Seriously. Splendid story, dynamic characters, awesome art. I don’t want it to be over.

Book Review
Title: Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter
Author: Russell Nohelty
Genre: Comic Book
Rating: *****
Review: After reading Katrina hates the dead by the same author I couldn’t wait to see what Ichabod Jones: monster hunter had in store for me. Much like Katrina hates the dead it does satire the Christian faith although it could be seen as satirical to any religion that contains a chosen one. We meet Ichabod Jones who is a killer imprisoned in a mental hospital who escapes when a monster attacks the hospital. We learn through the voice in Ichabod’s head that he is the chosen one, an instrument of God and he is the only one that can defeat the monster. Unlike Katrina Ichabod is a bit of scaredy cat and has many flaws despite the voice’s “training” before he was captured.
Overall, I liked this more than Katrina hates the dead as it sparks questions like is it all in Ichabod’s head or is it real? Again, please take some caution when reading for those who follow a religion as it could be seen as offensive.

This was perhaps one of the more interesting graphic novels that I've read. There've been others I enjoyed more, but this one made me think. It's genuinely hard to tell if Ichabod is actually a monster killer at the end of the world, or if this is just a glimpse into the mind of an insane serial killer justifying his kills.

The drawing style wasn't my favorite. It did suit the material, but some of the characters looked a wee bit too similar.

Definitely enjoyed it.
