A pale imitation of Lorelei James' Rough Riders. It tried too hard and didn't work well. AND, I liked her characters, so I kept reading.

10/12/2021 - ebook is free pretty much all the places. Audiobook is WS on Audible for $2.99.

7/2020 - Each book in the series builds on the last, so be sure to read/listen in order. This one also runs somewhat concurrently to Rocky Mountain Heat (book 1), so there’s full on spoilers if you opt to start here.

This one is pretty low angst (though with a few potential triggers, listed at the bottom of my review) and features brother #3, Daniel. He meets the mysterious Beth in a bar one weekend where sparks fly - but she slips him a fake number. When they reunite, Beth surprises Daniel with not only the fact that she’s a mom to three young boys but also a proposal of a sex-only relationship. Daniel agreed under the condition that he wants to at least be friends.

This is simultaneously sweet & super sexy. I like that even though Beth is skiddish about a relationship and has a lot of trauma from her deceased husband to get over - she doesn’t play with Daniel’s feelings or waffle. While slow burn in the relationship aspect - the sex is frequent & fun. Beth’s boys are an adorable addition and it’s a treat to witness the whole family fall in love with each other.

We get updates on Blake & Jaxi. A few chapters from Gabe’s POV to tease us about his upcoming book as well as his perspective on some happenings with Matt. (Who gets the next book, Rocky Mountain Desire)

I enjoyed Sokolov's narration. She uses a subtle Canadian accent that continues to remind the listener of where we're at without overpowering the narration/story.

Audio book. Narrator was fine. The story itself was a little too long. The ending became anti-climatic.

A woman and her three children dealing with traumatic events hoping for a brand new start. Beth meets Daniel Coleman and sparks go flying. I like stories with children as long as they keep the kids as close to being kids as possible and Ms Arend did a good job. Daniel and Beth struggled a little but not a lot in order to find their HEA. It was a good enough story, nothing extraordinary but entertaining nonetheless.

Daniel is so sweet when I comes to Beth and the kids. Beth has a horrible pass with abuse and doesn't trust easily especially when Daniel starts to get interested in Beth and wanting to date. Great story and HEA. Loved the kids.

Beth is out with her sister for a night on the town in Calgary - the sister hooks up with one of the twins (or maybe both) Beth disappears to the ladies room and comes back and is caught by Daniel Colemann ;-) Some sparks fly but due to Beth's past she finds it difficult they swap numbers and Dnaiel is very interested, Beth is as well but she's moving so she doesn't see the point. Is it weird if I think it is totally hot that Daniel calls her Miss Beth??

This is where it gets funny. She moves to where? yeah exactly down the pasture from where Daniel lives they hit it off but slower and the story is just beautiful. Beth has been abused so it is normal that she wants to take it slow. Her boys are lovely and the story is beautiful.

During this Matt Colemanns gets his heart walked all over by the cold hearted bitch Helen but then there wouldn't be a book if that all worked out.

Gabe Colemann looks into getting his life sorted and Jaxi and Blake have twins.

Vivian Arend Six Pack Ranch bk 02 Rocky Mountain Haven

My heart broke for Beth Danube and her boys so many times. Sadly, only one of her secrets surprised me. And I mean sad, in the fact that I was on the money and they weren't happy secrets, not because they were predictable. They were very believable and a reality for too many.

Domestic abuse is never an easy subject, but I think it was handled well, with the actual events being offscreen. There were several references to the past events, but we were spared the details. I shed many a tear with just what was described.

While huge holes remained in her world, learning to retake control of her sexuality had finally made it toward the top of the to-do list. After years of dreading her husband’s touch, she needed to know if she could stand physical contact with a man.
-- Beth Danube

I loved Daniel Coleman's patience as he and Beth traversed from a potential one-night stand to friends and more to everything.

Another relationship came to a foreseeable conclusion with a BANG. Meanwhile, the biggest secret of all came from an unsuspected source.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Daniel and Beth are fantastic together with a really good balance of friendship and passionate fun.

Like the first book, its primary focus may be on the couple at hand, but many get spotlighted. It's honestly my favorite kind of series, but it does mean you should read in order.
