What a long wait we have had for our Sophie Kinsella fix! I always enjoy the shopaholic series but each time I finish one I usually think surely there is no more the author can do with Becky and then bang out comes another book to entertain us.
This time Becky, Luke and Minnie have temporarily moved to LA for Luke's work and Becky is determined to well and truly live the LA life, Minnie is in a top swish play school and Becky is off to make her big dream come true ( ok current big dream!) she wants to be a celebrity stylist and she is willing to do anything to brush arms with these celebs!
I finished this book last night and I had to calm down over night before I wrote my review! SOPHIE KINSELLA what are you doing to us you can't just end it there! I was so into Becky's world then all of a sudden it just ended on an almighty cliff hanger I had to check that there were no pages missing from my copy! On a good note we know that there will be another shopaholic book so I might MIGHT let the author off!
Ok now I have got that off my chest and have stopped rocking in the corner I can now tell you how much I loved this book because it is one of my favourites in the series. Becky is still in Lala land but this is why we love her so much because she is still such a scatty loon, she is so unpredictable you never know what on earth she will try to pull off next but when she does it really isn't a shock because that is just Becky.
The humour is back in this book and on a couple of times I found myself laughing out loud the hamster part particularly got me because she just continues to dig herself into a hole. The lovely Luke is back and unbelievably still with Becky, this guy surely needs a medal to still be able to put up with her antics and still be so forgiving. I still can't take to Minnie she is the best form of conception for me!
This book was well worth the wait, I was hooked all the way through and was highly amused. I do wonder what on earth will happen in the next book, I just can't believe we have got to wait! I could sulk and give this 4 star just for because the ending made me feel like someone took my sweets away ....... But I can't because it really is worthy of a 5 star!

Most of the book had the same frustrations as the others in the series (Becky is selfish and only cares about herself until the very end), but then it didn't provide an actual ending. I'll definitely continue to read the series, because, why not, they take a day to read, but this was the worst one yet.
You got the struggle but there was no climax. It just left the reader guessing. And sad. I always feel sad towards the end when Becky’s world comes crumbling down, and everyone is mean to or disappointed in her. This time, there was no solution to that. I started to wonder, what if I die before I have a chance to read the next one? That is how depressing it was.
479 pages is a lot for a fluffy chick-lit novel. Especially one that doesn't end. If there is a future installment, I hope Miss Kinsella learns to edit, and be more concise in her writing. Further, Becky is married with a child. While I do not expect a woman to change completely once she becomes a mother, some character development would be nice.

The less said the better. Becky now has absolutely no redeeming qualities.
The Shopaholic series is one of my favourites and the early books are still a delight. However, we REALLY start to lose the plot with "Shopaholic to the Stars." Becky can be annoying and her flaws are in full display in the first 4 books, but she just consistently gets worse and more frustrating. She is unbearable in this book - completely selfish, irritating, and lacking in charm. Her getting into scrapes isn't funny or slightly endearing anymore. She's in her early-mid thirties at this point and should stop being so selfish and self-absorbed. She shows no growth, compared to progress she made in book 2 and 4, and it wears thin. I will finish the series, as I'm re-reading it, but I am seriously considering giving away my copy of this book. The plot was all over the place. Also, very annoying this sub-plot of her dad's friend, that takes up a chunk of the book, without revealing anything. And ending on a cliff-hanger is always annoying. This is my lowest rating for a book in the series this far.
Bummer, as a Kinsella book used to be a sure-thing, but anything after "Got Your Number" has been lackluster, in my opinion.

È normale che, nelle relazioni di lunga data, prima o poi i nostri amici perdano la bussola e ci irritino da morire.
Becky, mi hai fatto letteralmente impazzire per tutta la durata di questo libro, ripigliati, ti prego.

Like other reviewers, I was somewhat frustrated with Becky in this book. While I usually enjoy reading about her mishaps, I found that the mishaps in this book made Becky seem selfish and I spent most of the time feeling embarrassed by her actions and couldn't believe that Luke and Suze would put up with the way they were being treated (and that they would eventually )! For the first time in the series, the book ends with a cliffhanger, so despite my frustration with Becky, I will indeed have to pick up the next in the series to see what happens with her father and Tarkie.
I also found the cover blurb wasn't a great description of the book, as the events described don't happen until half way through, and even then, Becky spends about 5 seconds as the stylist of Luke's client's rival!!
Overall, an odd addition to the Shopaholic series...
