Just an average book - nothing too spectacular about it.

Every Other Day is about a high school girl named Kali who is human one day and then turns into a hunter of preternatural beings every other day. Because of her situation she has no friends until she meets Bethany, Skylar, and Elliot, who change her life forever. Anyone who likes stories with supernatural characters and a strong female protagonist will like this story. It wasn't one of my favorites, but I always enjoy the writing style of Jennifer Lynn Barnes who has a talent for bringing her characters to life.

The ending felt a little rushed to me, but I guess that's just because I wanted to read more.

It's rare to read a well written, stand alone, supernatural YA novel. So this book was a treat.
A fast paced plot, an intriguing main character, great supporting characters, and an interesting alternative world are what give this novel 4 stars. I look forward to reading more books by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.

I happened to see this book sitting on a shelf while working in the library. It looked interesting so I checked it out. I have to say that I am so FREAKING glad I did. This book was awesome.

I loved that Kali was such a badass. She was strong and independent. I know that there was an underscore of romance in the book, but it wasn't a central part, nor did she rely on the man or act like she was desperate for his love.

I think that this book was easy to relate to. I loved how Kali was alone, and then she realized that she was never really alone. There is always someone in her corner, but that there are also people who aren't. I liked the theme of friendship throughout the book, and there wasn't really a whole lot of petty high school drama (even though the book is set in high school).

Great paranormal read! I kind of wish that the author did a follow-up book, but oh well....now I get to create my own ending for it. You all should read this book!

If I had to describe Every Other Day in one word, that word would be BLOODY ACTION. Oh wait..that’s two. But it’s true!

Meet Kali. Some days she’s a normal human girl, every other day she’s not. On those days an overpowering call that she cannot ignore makes her hunt down preternatural creatures and kill them. So when Kali discovers a preternatural critter has attached itself to the school’s mean girl, her hero complex leads her to save the cheerleader. That’s when her world starts slowly but surely unraveling as she uncovers the truth behind her condition. The clock is always ticking for Kali, will she be able to help herself and her mysterious new friend?

Every Other Day is an exciting blend of bloody action, drama, and snark. I couldn’t put it down! I loved that Barnes didn’t pull back on all the details and gore like many do, and I so thank her for it. The villain, well what can I say, I never knew the click click lick sound of high heels could become so terrifying. I would have liked more development of the secondary characters, but the ending was full of promise, so I’ll be keeping an eye of for any sequel to this.
It’s a must read for all supernatural action fans!

Let me start off by saying I actually wrote a completely different review for this book before I even finished it. I know I know, I should wait to finish the book before writing a review. Whatever. I'm busy so I try to start reviews about half way through so I don't have to do much once I've finished the book. HOWEVER. This book completely surprised me!

In the beginning I wasn't enjoying it too much. I felt like it was almost too fast-paced, there wasn't a lot of character development, I didn't really enjoy the premise for the book. A lot of flaws were noted. Once I got about half way through, however, everything started to come together. In the beginning we're not really sure where preternatural creatures come from, we don't have an inkling about what Kali is, we're not sure why everyone knows about preternatural creatures, I didn't really connect to the characters, etc. etc. etc.

But then... everything is revealed! It's almost like plot twist overload. You literally find out the answers to all these questions in the span of about 25 pages. It was sort of like OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG all at once. I wish there were more OMG moments, because that's what keeps you reading. I didn't like that Barnes saved all the OMG moments for the end, when I was already weary and a little bored.

As for the characters, they're not really anything special. There isn't a lot of romance, the friendships are okay but not very solid. I wish there was more of a romantic aspect, but I guess since Kali's "romantic" interest is Zev, her nibbler's pair, and he's living inside her mind there can't be a lot of romance. There is one scene where Zev and Kali meet psychicly in some made up woods and have a sort of rendezvous in their minds, but that only lasts about a page. I wish there was more romance between them.

I honestly can't remember much about the book, other than it was a fast read and enjoyable enough. I just feel like it was lacking something, and I wanted more. I would probably recommend this book to paranormal lovers, but not anyone who has to have romance in their books. Characters are okay, the plot is quick, the read is short. For being 336 pages, I don't think much really happened.
