If you are looking for a book to help explain unconscious bias to anyone this is the book to do it.

It’s an easy read that skillfully illustrates racial discrimination in modern-day America while also being a great and engaging story.

I really loved how the author made Alix and Kelley perfect examples of how most people are unable to see their own faults/biases within themselves but can easily call them out in someone else.

I’m so glad Emira is able to find her voice and strength while surrounded by so much white noise (pun intended).

Super glad I gave this title a listen on Libby!

i really liked the message that the author was trying to get across, but narrative wise it was definitely lacking.

An easy and fun read on the complexities of race, weaved into the storyline, character plots and dynamics.

first read of 2025! getting out of my reading slump definitely impacted my experience of reading this, but a super interesting exploration on performative activism. every white person who thinks they aren’t racist should read this 😭

Page-turning prose full of tenderness, sincerity, and a smidgeon of absurdity (no doubt thanks to each character’s quirks), Such a Fun Age was an effortless read!

This book was like Little Fires Everywhere , but without the "what would I do" suspense. Definitely didn't meet the hype. If you want a book with a scheming suburban mom and excellent writing quality, check out Celeste Ng's books!

The core of this book is solid. The main plot and the development of the main characters are very good. What's not so good is the writing around this, especially in the first half of the book. Almost every moment of Emira with her friends, at some bar, talking about sex or jobs or clothes, gave me the sense that the author was writing that part reluctantly, as a chore. You can't skim those parts too quickly, or you'll miss important stuff.

In the last third of the book, there is almost none of the weak stuff. This part is worth four stars; if you make it to where the action heats up, you'll be fine.

This was such an intriguing story. It dealt with some heavy issues but in a light and breezy way. I’m interested to read more from this author.
