I keep trying with Alison. Much like how everyone loves brene brown and I don't, I feel as though I just can't connect here. We'll see tho.
EDIT: I frickin' LOVED this book. Sure, it took me wayyyy longer than I would've liked to get through it, but honestly I quite liked savoring this one. Typically I get lost in too many characters' storylines, but she seamlessly weaved in everyone's unique neurosis and dramas. She made what would seem like annoying banter to feel quite funny and almost hit too close to home ;-) The fact that issues in the 80s/90s/early 2000s are basically the same as today is unnerving and sad. And to see these characters develop over decades (while remaining the same age-ish, but still growing) was a delight that I didn't want to end. I was also excited to finally find some literature of hers that I actually enjoyed. Her other books just didn't hit me in the heart. This one did. Bravo for such a feat!

This was a book!!! I will admit that this book was extremely progressive for it's time, but the amount of transsexual and bi-lesbian refrences was not a welcome sight. I also seriosuly did not like how Sidney's character got kind of screwed up near the end and how Mo doesn't have the self respect to walk away. I really loved this couple, so I was a little bit salty when Sydney decided to go non-monagomous without Mo knowing. I also kind of wish that more happened between Lois and Jessie.

Nothing makes you romanticize life as a lesbian living in Minneapolis quite like a comic about lesbians living in Minneapolis. Brb gotta go hit the co-op
It took me awhile to get into it because it seemed so... mundane but I grew to love it due to just that reason. People living their lives - all the ups, downs and sideways we all go through. It is definitely a very liberal lifestyle depicted here but I think it's story about love, family and values is one that everyone should take a note. Bechdel does not say what is wrong (except Bush and the Republicans) and what is right; she merely shows what happens when certain actions are taken and not taken.
This book and series may be over but life keeps going on. My life feels a little bit more wholesome after reading this (maybe a bit more lesbian too?).

This was such a fun audiobook with such an insufferable protagonist.
I guess I have a new favorite graphic novel. (Or I guess, collection of comics. I really need to read more of these things). Bechdel's balance between poignant and playful is wonderful. Every detail-- the book titles at Madwimmin, the so-almost-real-its-not-funny news stories, hilarious activism t-shirts, and ridiculously long-titled academic papers-- is pitch perfect!
