3.9 AVERAGE

This was a pretty strong volume, but I think the only thing that didn't really hit with me was the last storyline; the first two were fantastic, and I loved the fact that everything did sort of line up together, but I Am A Gun dragged a little much for my taste. Failsafe and Two Birds, One Throne hit it out of the park, though, I just wish this didn't fall so flat in the end. I understand that these were sort of interspersed, so that makes it a little more interesting, but having the full arc at the end was a bit... I don't know, something didn't fit and I didn't find myself enjoying it as much because of that.

Outside of a bit of clunk at the back, though, this was strong, and I'm interested to see where Zdarsky's run goes, particularly the aftermath.

An incredible start to Zdarsky’s run.

The art is stellar. Love me some Jorge Jimenez. The writing,,,, gave us the slutty thigh high lace-up boots costume,,,, but at what cost?

Now for spoilers

'Tim isn't my soldier! He's my son!' Wow that's great, now act like it.
'I'm sorry Bruce, Gotham has fallen.' Is anyone fucking surprised it happens every other week atp
The whole thought monologue from Bruce abt Tim being the best Robin or whatever,,,,, is Tim my favourite? Yes. Do I accept the utter Slander on the other boys? NO!
Oh wow an ominous red beam that looks like it disintegrated a main character? I'm sure that won't have actually been teleportation or whatever. I'm Tired.
Ik this is art not writing but it has to be said. Belen Ortega I love you but,,,, we're rly doing vacuum sealed fruit tits? In the year of our lord 2023?

Really enjoyed this one. The story got a little repetitive (Failsafe knows all of Batman's moves!) but it was never dull and had some smart insights into Batman's persona. The art is also great; it is informed by the hyper-buff styles of recent years, but is a little more subtle than some of the worse examples of that style.

I enjoyed this just as much as the second time around. Only maybe more because I wasn't waiting for the issues to come out and I was able to read the entire arc at once.
In some ways there's less suspense for a few reasons but I definitely did enjoy it and would /will read this again. No questions asked.

I mean, it never occurred to Batman, World's Greatest Detective, that he might be framed for murder at some point?

It kind of fits with more recent Batman, which has a mix of silliness and seriousness, and I don't mind that, it feels like, um, life, which is silly but sometimes serious, or sometimes the silliness turns into seriousness without you knowing.

I kind of related to Penguin in this one...it'd be tough to be Oswald Cobblepot in OUR world, let alone a comic book world where everyone is a supergenius billionaire with incredibly straight teeth. After I saw my 15th god with abs shredded like a bag of mozzarella come gliding down from the sky, I'd be more than a little bitter.

At least the billionaires in our world have the decency to be pretty average-looking.
