Great Books! Fantastic, I really enjoyed all the reading!!
Seems to be a solid start to something bigger.
There was one thing I absolutely loved in this book but it is slightly spoilery for previous books, so I'll mention it at the end after a warning.
The story is branching out and is no longer just about Geralt. It's getting quite complicated, there's lots of political interplay, kingdoms, factions, names and places. I'm torn because Peter Kenny might be the best narrator I've ever listened to but the book might be easier to follow in its written format.
It's interesting to see Sapkowski's style slowly evolve. Despite this book in the series being the first which is officially a full-length novel, it still sort of feels like a collection of chronological, closely related short stories.
MINOR SPOILERS FOR THE SWORD OF DESTINY (the previous book in the series): I think Ciri is possibly the best child protagonist I've seen in a book. This is because she actually feels like a real child. Yes, a brave, adventurous, scarred and intelligent child, but still a child. This is not the case in a lot of books. Watching her grow, question things, imitate adults and try to find her place in the world is funny, charming and believable. Undoubtedly the best part of the book.

Mediocre, Brunner is better
Geralt and the concept of Witchers is awesome. Storytelling is pretty good. Delivery sucks, definitely not helped by the layout formatting. Best part of book was last 12%. After 2 books, I still don't know why everyone supposedly hates Witchers so much and I'm quite tired of that lack of world logic. Clint Werner's Brunner tales are much more enjoyable.

A lot of new characters and a deeper explanations of the existing ones is the strong point. A single overarching story line seems so be more interesting than the preceding books. However, especially in the middle, both Geralt and Ciri's stories don't advance much which was slightly frustrating. Also, an anti-climatic ending, even if it sets the stage for the next book, makes the book unfulfilling. Hope the next books build up better on this foundation.
I read the short stories books first, so it took me a little bit to adjust to the slower pace of this book, but it was very good. I can't wait to read the next!

I haven’t read a page turner like this in a while. The pacing is incredible it is a polar opposite to Sanderson’s writing style. I love a book that gets to the point. Best fantasy novel I’ve read this year!

I liked this one. I had a good time.
I didn't dislike Ciri or Yennifer as much as I thought I might. I liked Triss a lot.
Much more cohesive than the previous 2 books.
4 out of 5 stars.

Another Witcher book I just flew through! I am enjoying this series a lot, obviously.
This book is a lot of the plot of the Netflix series 2 but with a few differences.
I feel that it was well paced and well done. There was one chapter where I had to go back because of name-confusion, but it was all resolved on second listen.
The only thing I still don't understand is why Yen had to be so rude to Ciri, she could have explained some things a bit, like the jewelry. I feel like Ciri would have understood. Though I did cackle at the fact that even Yen's letters smell of lilac and gooseberries. OF COURSE THEY DO.
Sapkowski has this scent so ingrained in my brain now that one of these days I must buy myself a Lilac and Gooseberries perfume to know what it actually smells like.
The book ends on a cliffhanger soooooooooo, on to the next one we go!
