I genuinely enjoyed this and will read the next one, but I didn’t like it as much as the last two.
I think Hester’s character is by far the most interesting & I love her development. The world building continues in a really good way, and it’s still a well written adventure.
I’m not sure if I’m a little put off just because of the next generation thing, when I’d rather focus on Hester & Tom, but these books have always switched between the different characters we’re following so I don’t know if I can complain about Wren & her new friends as a focal point

wtf

braves choices with hester but I'm not a fan. liked wren but it took me awhile, I'm so tired grammar isn't happening.

This book was rather disappointing compared to the last one. It introduced new characters and I disliked all of them. Wren was naive and ungrateful, yet another character who seemed to exist to disrespect Hester. Tom was once again useless and soft, undoing lots of character development from the last book.

I understand that this book is set many years after the last two and I thought that this worked in some aspects: I enjoyed Freya and Caul's characters. I wouldve liked more development of Caul, but that wasn't an option apparently.

The ending of the book was the only bit that really intrigued me. It ended on a cliffhanger and although it was cliched, it was better than most of the other storylines.

Although I do adore this universe, I dont think I will be able to get over the character assian of Hester Shaw in this book and this kinda ruins the story a bit for me personally. It makes sense for Hester to act the way she is acting in the first and the second book, since she has been hurt badly before and she doesnt trust people easily, and I get that. But I feel like in Infernal Devices, its just taking it a bit too far and her extremely cold behaviour doesnt quite make sense to me anymore here (especially at the end). She literally runs away from her daughter abd her husband because "she is bored". I guess thats obviously not the full reason, and that she still has a lot of doubt and mistrust that causes her to act this way, and again, it makes sense that she feels this in the first two books. This one however, not so much.

3.5 stars. The book got off to a bit of a shaky start with the whole 'sixteen years later' thing which, from past experience, isn't a good sign in a series, but I quickly fell for Wren and got immersed in her story. Luckily, Tom and Hester weren't entirely left out of the story, and quite a few other characters make appearances too.
It was interesting to see how the world has changed since Predator's Gold, especially the rise of the Green Storm, but it felt a little introductory - I'm hoping for more of a showdown in the final book, especially as it's so much longer than the others.

This series just gets better and better. Did not expect the ending at ALL
