* I received an arc in exchange for an honest review*

I knew this book was going to be phenomenal, I knew it was going to rip my heart out and rip it to shreds, just like the other two in this series did. This was such a wonderful best friend to lovers, accidental pregnancy. I absolutely loved Ben and Gabby.
I knew there would be a twist that would be gut-wrenching. I was trying to prepare myself, but I still ended up sobbing at 3 am.
I am so happy that I took a chance on this series and finally read Jewel E. Ann I fell in love with her writing and they she tells a story. I'm so sad this series is over.

Yep, I am going to go ahead and do it…this was more than a good book, it was a humorous book, an emotional book, a book about growth, a book about acceptance, a book about persevering through change, and a book about young, hopeful love.. Nope, it wasn’t a good book, it was a GREAT book.

Yes, this book, like all the others, has a phenomenal soundtrack for you 80-90s lovers but, I want to talk about MY soundtrack to this story; which consisted of squeals of joy, groans of shared embarrassment, grasps of surprise, giggles of fun , and sniffles…both kinds. It took me through the emotional ringer and I loved every minute of it! Gabby was so relatable and highly endearing to me. I could literally relive my younger naivety as she fumbled through her first kiss, and so much more; which made her growth throughout the story even more triumphant in my eyes.

Ben was something so special. From the very beginning he loved her enough to want only her happiness, even with another guy. But, when his time came, he hesitated only briefly before pouring on all the charm to show Gabby he was the right guy. With almost a lifetime of friendship between them, their first everythings together were so powerful, so much more and I adored everything about it.

It wouldn’t be a Jewel book without some twists (note:the aforementioned sniffles) and these two really go through it. Their youth is challenged in ways you don’t see coming, their young emotions having to deal with some heavy things, but the way they rise to support each other is really the beauty in this story.

I highly, highly recommend this series! I am so sad to see this one end but, Jewel really left no stone unturned. From the first line of Sunday Morning to the last in A Good Book, these characters matured and flourished. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. making my heart content as I turned the last page

It’s a GOOD day because it’s a new release for Jewel. E Ann- and the bittersweet finale of this series that I have loved so much! A Good Book gives us the much anticipated final Jacobson series story, baby sister Gabby, the sister whose spirit I felt drawn to from the start. I was so excited for her to get her HEA- and as always for Jewel to twist my heart into a thousand pieces and shatter me before so beautifully healing us in the end. No one emotionally destroys yet uplifts me by her- and this one is yet another heartfelt, emotionally affecting, deftly unfolded love story with Jewel’s specialist- deliciously imperfect characters just trying to find their way.

Gabby has always had a crush on her sister’s ex- even going so far as following him to college. Little does she know her bestie Ben has long since been burying his love for her- so of course where she does, so does he. I love a good friends to lovers story- and because it’s JEA you know it’s going to have a unique and surprising take. This one has so much angst, heartache, and of course some of those CRAZY JEA twists. So this friends to lovers story is anything but gentle and easy- oh my heart. Gabb feels like she grows up the most of all the sisters- working through her faith, her naivety, figuring herself out, and figuring out love. I LOVE a juicy emotionally and psychologically existential character journey, and Gabby’s is so immersive and dynamic. This isnt just a girl figuring out her feelings- this si a girl growing up. Figuring out how to navigate the world as an adult-it feels so coming of age.

As always, expect raw and gritty emotion- Jewel has the best ability to eviscerate her characters (and us) as they stagger through complications and unexpected heartache to find their HEA. As always, just trust the ride, brace yourself for heartache and some tears, but know the beauty lies in the hard fought growing, in the JOURNEY. This series has been such a beautiful journey and I’ve loved each sister’s story. I’m not ready to say farewell to this world, but this is certainly a mesmerizing finale (I can’t wait for the audio!). Tears, heartbreak, healing, and most of all LOVE- yet again, I’ve been Jewel’d.

I haven't gone too far into Jewel E. Ann's backlog of books and A Good Book is the first book I've read in her Sunday Mornings series. NGL for me the start of this book wasn't a winner that's not to say you won't love the start it just wasn't for me. My main complaint is the first third of this book was just so cringey. The female lead went to this college because her older sister's ex boyfriend, that she thinks she's in love with, goes to this school and she follows him there. To me that was just a lot, I think I'd be more snag with the whole situation if this was her dream school and he happened to go there. As a general rule I really dislike it when one of the listed tropes is just boy crazy FL. Like just because she likes to date or has. A huge crush on someone doesn't mean she's boy crazy, also I just hear a negative connotation. But to me following someone you’re not dating means you are in fact boy crazy. I also found Gabby to be too naive, and yes she's the daughter of a preacher, but she doesn't have to know next to nothing about adult relations.
Putting aside that first part of the book I did grow to like the rest of the story. I loved the direction the story went in when Gabby realized the guy for her isn't the sister's ex but her best friend Ben. While it took Gabby more than a minute to realize that Ben is her real true love that just made their journey to happily ever after more entertaining. And trust me there were many many more bumps in the road for these two.

As the youngest Jacobson, Gabby is set on being very different from her sisters: virginal, judgy, and naive—the perfect preacher's daughter who happens to be infatuated with her oldest sister's ex-boyfriend.

Ben is her best friend, the one constant since middle school. He is reliable and sweet and would do anything for Gabby. After all, he loves her, even when Gabby doesn't notice. They are both in the same college, away from their small town of Devil's Horn.

Gabby is sure of being in love with Matt until Ben kisses her. And then, in pure Jewel E. Ann fashion, tragedy strikes. A Good Book is a raw, emotional, painful, yet beautiful journey. The characters' growth, the unexpected friendships, and disability rep made the story real and more meaningful. And the 80s setting continues to be perfect.

As of now, the Sunday Morning series is my favorite by Jewel E Ann. What I would give to read these books for the first time again. They are special.

⛓️ ARC REVIEW + RELEASE DAY! ⛓️

I am wondering how to review this book 'cuz when I started the story I felt a bit disconnected at first but there's just something how the author writes that takes you by storm as there's always something that draws you into the story. The real thing that happened to one of the lead characters blindsided me as I truly did not see it coming. It's one thing to read a story that makes you connect to the characters, even if you can't always relate to what they go through; it's another thing when they go through something that really has your heart & soul and has a piece of you; it makes the story much more heartwrenching and very heartfelt. It's also something I know the author can do when you read one of her books and that has made her one of my favorite authors I've read. And while I'm trying to find my words to write this review, tears take over; not in sadness but 'cuz I'm so proud that author's write about these kind of things that really happen in real life. It was quite the journey reading this book!
Gabby & Ben have known each other for so long and have been best friends ever since they've met. Now they're at the same college but Gabby's has her heart set on a guy, Matthew, that also happens to be her sister's ex-boyfriend. But no matter what she does, he doesn't seem to see what's right in front of him. After one evening, there's a shift but seems something still is missing. Ben always had a crush on Gabby but the time never seemed to be right. Their bond has always been strong but with her being focused on other things, it's not how he really thought things would go. When she asks him a favor, it may be the turning point for them but they don't really know how to handle things. When something tragic happens to Ben, he's forced to leave college. While he's trying to cope with his new reality, Gabby's left out of sorts and she finally knows what she truly wants. Will they find their way to one another in the end?...

Genuinely, 10/10.
A sweet, romantic coming of age story about two best friends from a small town. A preachers daughter, Gabby, and her best friend, Ben, enter the real world for the first time when they go away for college. Gabby is following the love of her life, Matt Cory, more than getting an education; getting to do it with her best friend is just a bonus. The story follows Gabby in her quest to find true love, hopefully, while abiding by her religious upbringing. This story is a slow burn full of emotion and challenging twists. This is the third in a series, but each can be read as a standalone and still fully enjoyed!

This is the sweetest series. If you ever grown up questioning love and religion and sex, this will tear you to pieces- in the best way possible.
