I am really liking Robert Bailey's books, especially the Bocephus Haynes series.

I like Bocephus’ style. He’s a fighter, gentle giant, loyal, and smart. He is fighting to get his life back on track after a tragedy. A friend needs his help and he pulls himself together to do so. He may have been out of the game for awhile but he is a quick study.

I like the General’s style. She is a fighter, loyal, and smart. She almost breaks but leans on her friend Bocephus for strength and seems to come out stronger in the end.

An engaging, thought-provoking, and intricate story. This book starts the Bocephus journey, but there are others that come before that provide additional background on how the characters got to where they are now. This book can be read alone but I am really curious about the other books and think that I may go back and read those as well.

Happy Reading!

Lot of surprises at the end. OK overall- weak ending. Narrator talks too fast.

This is a fantastic read. I listened to it on Audible, which I struggle with if the book isn't engaging. It was hard for me to turn it off. Great storyline and characters.

The General is on trial for killing her ex-husband and an exonerated but still lacking confidence lawyer, Bo, agrees to resurrect his law practice to defend her. This was a good enough legal thriller to keep me reading and wanting to find out the end. Despite it being the first in a series, it clearly is beneficial to read the entire series before this one to really appreciate all of the plot.

This author is a master when it comes to writing rich characters in a twisty mystery courtroom drama tale.

We have a man slated to be murdered...

Yes, that is how we enter the story...

And then his ex-wife a respected district attorney as the defendant.

Did she or didn’t she – that is the question.

This author has a way of writing his characters that you either like them or hate them – no real in-between – but either way, you find yourself invested in the story.

Stay with it, the ending might just surprise you.
