Fun book. Better than the first christmas short in the same series, but not good enough to give it an extra star. What is interesting that the first book in the series and the two christmas stories are all told from a first person view, but all by a different person. I'm curious to see if that extends to the other books as well. Though I assume those are all told from the point of view of Allie, the main character of the first book. In this Christmas book Allie is more a secondary or even tertiary character.

It was my first time reading Poe and I didn't expect for me to like him that much. I don't have much experience with mystery books and detectives and stuff because I didn't really think it would something I'd enjoy but here I am. I loved the way he writes, I think it's so beautiful and smart and I also liked that detective's (he's not really a detective) way of thinking was being explained so thoroughly although at times I struggled and I was getting kind of confused. He mentioned some pretty clever sayings/ quotations and theories so I needed to research some things. In conclusion, I finished the book and immediately bought some more of his work.

those men were clearly in love. it went from "omg hey I'm also at this bookstore lol" to "PLEASE LIVE WITH ME. I THINK YOURE BRILLIANT AND YOUR COMPANY WOULD GIVE ME MUCH PLEASURE." So points for gay detective and his observant but more normal/lonely bf

I really liked the intro to the story, sets the stage well especially for when this book was written.

The way the Poe describes a crime scene is really wonderful.

Ending was crazy.
