Was not feeling the time travelling plot or the insta-love.

Eh. I'm sure people who worship the ground Whedon walks on will love this, but I found it to be the blandest volume of Runaways so far. A lot of inconsequential hogwash and overly-complicated plot threads that didn't seem to lead anywhere. Plus the increasing amount of in-character anti-trans* comments from a certain man's mouth is bothering me to the point that I could care less about his respective plot line and angsty man pain. Yawn. Also: could Whedon's name possible be any bigger on the cover? JFC.

This is still a 4 star for me, but as an adult now, I'm seeing more language used that definitely isn't okay.

Also it makes a lot of sense that Whedon wrote this in retrospect...

This volume collects the brief Joss Whedon-penned story arc of the Runaways, a series with a bumpy past that now appears to be, regrettably, on hiatus. The Runaways are a group of teens with super powers who bumped off their parents when they discovered they were super villains. There's also a lesbian love triangle so, at this point, it's obvious why Whedon was a fan of the series. In this chapter of the story, they travel back in time to turn of the century New York City.

Bonus fun are cameos from other Marvel-verse characters: the Kingpin, the Punisher, the Avengers.

I liked the storyline of this collection even if I found Whedon's hyper pop-conscious dialogue a little annoying at times. The story is so good and the end so moving, all is forgiven. The art by Michael Ryan and his inking team is seriously gorgeous.

I read recently this is being turned into a movie like every other comic ever published. I vote for Chloe Moretz to play Molly.

I have no idea what was going on the entire time.

Hate to say it -- especially since this one was written by Joss Whedon -- but I thought the story was all over the place in this volume, and the artwork was much more hectic and hard to follow than in the previous books. Kind of a big mess, in a lot of ways, but I'll stick with the series and see how the remaining three work out.

I hate Joss Whedon. He ruins everything he touches. This plot didn't make any sense, it ignored the storyline that happened before it. It introduced new characters that were meaningless and had so much going on I had no idea what was happening. All the time travel (done incorrectly) and the different gangs with vaguely offensive names didn't help. The Runaways that Brian K. Vaughan created would NEVER work for the Kingpin. Victor wouldn't cheat on Nico and the girls wouldn't call another girl a hoe, like they did in this story. Joss proclaims to be a feminist, when this story has a vixen/siren character where her only appeal is her sex power, the girls attacking each other over who they're sleeping with and name calling/slut-shaming, and child abuse from the past with a child married to an older man. I hate this. Joss Whedon can suck my big toe.

Could definitely tell Whedon's sense of humor and it was an exciting ride!

There are some good things about Joss Whedon, but in the end I have to say that I am not a fan.
