I'll give it 3 to 3 1/2 stars. Not the greatest books that I've read in the past year, but not the worst either. (Obviously, considering that I completed the book as opposed to the several that I did not)
I found the protagonists interesting and very much human. They pretty much all came saddled with some very deep, dark baggage. Especially the lead agent, Archie. (Archie? Really?) I also found it very interesting that there was very little information concerning the villain, a child serial rapist/killer, until almost the very end of the book.
Okay, not a Pulitzer prize nominee, but good entertainment just the same.

Well, it's sure not going to go down in history as one of my all-time favorites, but I never expected it to. Sometimes you just need a semi-cheesy thriller to read all in one day. It was definitely interesting and exciting and moved along at a good clip, although the writing isn't anything special (I'm not entirely sure 'unperceivable' is a word, although the author used it at least twice) (and her ridiculous focus on Susan's hair being pink was a little much--I think her hair color was mentioned, oh, just about every time Susan herself was mentioned) and the story is sometimes predictable and downright corny/cliched. The Archie/Gretchen thing is an unexpected, creeptastic twist, though.
*Not for the easily scandalized.

I really enjoyed this; it's a fast, gruesome read with a ton of Portland atmosphere and a thoroughly unsettling serial killer. If you ever thought the relationship between Luther and Alice on the British show "Luther" was far too warm and fuzzy, this book is right up your alley.
São 3,5* que sobem pela facilidade de leitura.

3.5 it was intriguing the whole time. I don’t usually like cop povs but this was pretty good
Heartsick was a solid book and there isn't much I can say that is bad about it. The characters were enthralling the plot kept me reading.
I will say that it was a slow start and my three star rating comes from the feeling of. "ehh" after finishing. I think it's more a matter of my own personal taste rather than the quality of the book.
I will say this book made me shiver and wince a few times. The book is very dark and twisted. If you can't handle gore or twisted situations don't even attempt this one. This isn't a typical serial killer/ detective novel.
I don't think I will be picking up the rest of this series simply because I really don't want to see what happens between villain and detective. However, if twisted human relationships is your thing this book is well written and I would recommend it.

Very interesting concept on the relationship between a killer and the victim. Good read!
“I gave up everything I had in that basement” Archie’s voice was low, controlled. “My children. My wife. My work. My life. I was going to die. In her arms. And I was all right with that. Because she would be there” He looked right at Anne. “Taking care of me”
“She’s a psychopath”
A yellow cab pulled into the small parking lot behind the office. “Yeah”, Archie said, taking a step towards it. “But she’s my psychopath”
Wow in some fucked up way this caught me off guard.
I accidentally read the third book before I realised it was a series.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Instantly fell hook line and sinker into this.
Loved most of it. Gretchen is a complete and utter brilliant psychotic character, so clever!
Chelsea Cain just gets it completely right and captivates my full attention.
2 things I wasn’t keen on. The side plot for Susan’s other story... not interested. Also the twist at the end.... could see that coming a mile off
Loved this though, so I’m going to jump straight into the next one
