I've had this mystery for a long time, but I finally read it to the boy. We both enjoyed it. Cats are always fun.

I like the way every thing rolled together. I liked the way the more Qwill learns the more the reader starts to guess and figure it out the story. I like the way everything rolls together at the end of this story while learning something new.

A whimsical "whodunnit"! This is one of the earlier novels in this series and provided a bit more insight to the main character than in some of the later novels bi thoroughly enjoyed the setting in a bohemian boardinghouse full of gastronomes and artists.

Read the series but read them in order. They will make much more sense. I do enjoy reading them.

Wrapped up quickly and not very satisfactorily. The cats were the only somewhat interesting part of the story

Qwill is on a diet which is unfortunate since he is now the writer for the gourmet food column. He packs up his cats and moves into Maus Haus, an old art boarding house turned into well it’s still an art boarding house if you consider culinary arts art. An old mysterious suicide and an old ex-girlfriend make this move one to be remembered. Qwill in the manner of unrequited love loans his ex some money and then she disappears. Feeling jilted he tries to write it off as her MO until KoKo starts acting weird, and he finds her suitcase… a fun romp with only a little misogyny as this book was written in the sixties. There’s a larger girl whose size we aren’t allowed to forget who is out husband hunting and if only she could lose some weight and stop acting so desperate… A great read I am so happy that I’m reading through this series again 

I especially liked this step forward in "The Cat Who" series. I like that Coco and YumYum had more active roles, that Qwill was someone that not everyone liked, and the array of varied characters. I loved Coco learning to type. It was a nice twist.

More character development happened here. However, some parts of the interactions seem out of sync. Qwill's description is not of someone that I would fall over but it seems most of the women in the series do. That sits oddly for me. Why would so many women be drawn to a guy with a superlong moustache that is a recovering alcoholic clearly living on the edge of his budget? Maybe something here has been lost to time. I appreciate how this book is leading Qwill towards future changes.
