I enjoyed this installment of Marked Men. I think I dig Rome more than the other guys in the group. Maybe because I'm not the biggest fan of piercings, and Rome wasn't all gaged up. Or maybe it is because he is a true warrior, protector, alph-male. I liked his character. PTSD is real and extremely difficult fact of life for many of our soliders. I am glad that the in the end he was looking into help. Unfortunately so many of our soliders battle this situation alone.
Cora was a bit too immature for me. She was represented as being a fixer of all problems, and a total bad-ass chick. But she couldn't let go of her ex being a douche? I mean it has been years, and she was only hurt once. Most women deal with various heart breaks and cheating situations before giving up. I guess I can't relate because I've been in her shoes and didn't give up on the male species. Secondly her best friends are guys, womanizing guys at that. How can she not see that not all guys are the same? So overall I had a hard time connecting to Cora. But I liked the development of the relationship with Rome.
Overall it was a fun, easy read.

Due to explicit sexual content, not recommended for readers under the age of 17.

Jay Crownover is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors with her sexy, action-packed, tattoo parlor filled with all sorts of broken playboys. Rome, brother to Rule and retired soldier in the Army, isn't in the tattoo business, but spent many years of his life protecting others: Rule & Remy, Shaw, and an entire country's freedoms. He's had a difficult time forgiving himself for not protecting Remy from a terrible car accident that claimed his life, even though Rome was away fighting a war.

When Rome returns home after his tour, he finds himself having trouble fitting in. Everyone has moved on with their lives. Rule has straightened his life out and has taken over the role of protecting Shaw, he's furious with his parents because of a secret they kept from him and Rule, and those nightmares that keep haunting his sleep leave him tired, cranky, and lost. Lucky for him, there's a girl who can handle all of him. The good, bad, and the ugly. Now he only needs to trust her.

Cora continues to be one of my favorite characters in this series. She's all girl with a side of kick ass, and this little pixie with her different colored eyes are just what Rome needs to put a smile back on his face. People should really stop doubting Cora's ability to take care of herself. The girl has some moves!

I'm going to admit to crying more than once during this novel. Jay ratcheted up the action three-fold, threw in several twists I never saw coming, and made me fall in love with this extended family more than I already had. I especially enjoyed learning more about Remy, although the amount of tears shed will never be divulged. I will admit to not being a big fan of an all too common trope being used entirely too often lately, but Jay found a unique way to make it work.

I highly recommend the Marked Men series to anyone looking for a few bad boys slowly finding their ways to the women they love. Rome's book is slightly more intense than Rule or Jet, but so very good.

“She was also damn cute. Not beautiful or stunningly pretty, but she was cuter than any girl with that much attitude had a right to be, and somehow the bouquet of flowers that colored her skin in every shape and variety seemed like it belonged there.”

This book was absolutely amazing! It was just a fast ride of thousand emotions from happiness, sadness, fear(you will understand the fear at nearly the end of the book!), there was sexy time and I absolutely adored the entire book! You wouldn’t think so because i took a while to finish this book but I can tell you now it’s not true. I took a while to finish it because I kept putting it to the selves to read a different book but I decided this weekend I will finish this book and that’s exactly what I did on Saturday! That was one amazing Saturday!! I loved Rome because he is so different than his brother Rule. Don’t get me wrong I adore Rule as well but they also the same in a lot of ways.

“I don’t have a ring. I don’t have a pretty speech prepared. All I know is that I love you more than life itself and I want every single person in this room to know that I want you forever, Shaw Landon. I love you. Marry me.”

Typical Rule: he didn’t ask, he just told her.

“Be an Archer. Be mine.”

Rome just got home from the army for good and he didn’t know what to do with himself. He feels that he wouldn’t be there and he was taking all his emotions out on everyone he loves by pushing Rule and Shaw away! Cora did not want to stand for that and she made that perfectly clear…. Cora is like tiny, feisty little tinker bell with tattoo’s and piercings and she will not back down in what she thinks is right, she know the other guys will let Rome slide for being so rude so she decided to make it perfectly clear that she won’t stand for something like that! Rome was pissed at her first but then slowly that same day she become to intrigue him. One night he was so drunk at a bar that the owner had to call his brother to take him home but Cora is the one who answered the phone. She did want to bother Rule so she decided to go get him and that night everything changed between the two. Cora was looking for the perfect man because she is terrified to get her heart broken again like her heart broke when Jimmy her ex cheated on her. She was so terrified to date Rome but something very unexpected happened and he wanted to be with her! His PTSD nearly pusses him away from her but she forced him to talk it through with her instead of running of on her and getting drunk. Sadly what Jimmy did to her she was so terrified to say “I love you” to him and that nearly forced them apart along with a little surprise from Jimmy, but she loved Rome already and she planned to make him see it but that did not go as expected. Rome got shot by a biker who got kicked out of his MC because he stared a fight with Rome and he blaimed Rome for being kicked out of his MC! That nearly made Cora loose him but he somehow needed it because he got to see Remy! Remy made him see that she loved him even though she never said it, he also made sure that Rome stopped blaming himself for not being there when Remy died. He nearly gave up fighting and that meant that he could hear Remy telling him to fight but he decided to fight harder when he head Cora speak to him, told him to fight because she would be worse of he died because she would have certainly not be able to survive her heartbreaking. Thankfully he fought and the book ended with a HEA for Rome and Cora but sadly something happened to Phil and we will only know what happens to him when we read Nash’s book.

“Love doesn’t always have to be spoken out loud.”

Jay Crownover really knows how to write amazing books with sexy swoon worthy bad boys and feisty strong and independent woman. This is the perfect book to read that leaves a person happy and smiling when you finished this it. Jay Crownover is easily becoming one of my new favorite authors!

“Rome Archer, if you don’t wake up right this second so I can tell you that I love you, I swear I’m going to name this baby something ridiculous like Daffodil or Rover and I’m going to let your brother be in charge of haircuts until he or she is old enough to complain.”

I was pretty late in finding Rule, and I only read it as I mistakenly accepted Jet from netgalley not knowing it was the second book. While I wasn't too impressed with Rule, I did enjoy Jet, so when I found out the next book would be Rome and Cora's I knew I had to read it, and the wait for Rome to be published was a slow painful torture.

I love Cora, I love her spunky attitude, how possessive she is of the boys, and how easily she accepted Shaw and Ayden into her life. But when I began reading Rome I saw a different side to her, a more thoughtful and romantic side.

'I didn't do well as a leaf no longer attached to a tree. I needed roots, a foundation to grab on to, and when my perfect guy came along he was going to be so solidly planted it would take a hurricane to move him.'

Rome meanwhile has always remained a mystery to me, so I have been looking forward to hearing his side of the story. Getting into Rome's head was scary at some times, and I really just wanted to give him a big squishy hug to try and make things better for him...thankfully Cora has that sorted out so I don't feel as bad for leaving him to suffer. Seeing this duo in action was entertaining, but also something special to read, seeing how this tiny person can affect an ex soldier so much.

Rowdy actually surprised me in Rome, I know he has had a few shinning moments that made people get there act together, but I didn't really get an idea of who he was and what he was about. But in Rome he definitly has some great words of advice for Cora and lets us get a peak into his personal side.

I think Rome has to be my favourite book out of them all for now. Not only do we get to see all of the boys in a different light, but we also get to catch up with Shaw and Ayden, who I didn't realise I missed so much, especially with Ayden not having a big role in Rome.
The constant twists and surprises had me on the fence over how this would all end. A lot of things I didn't expect happened, but that only made me that much more desperate to keep reading and find out what was going to happen. The last few pages of Rome completely blew me away, it was a total shock and I am desperate to find out what happens next in the next instalment in this series.

I didn't love the first book (Rule) in this series. I enjoyed Jet (book 2) way more, and I enjoyed this one as well.

I LOVED Cora. She might be one of my favorite female lead characters of all time. I also really enjoyed Rome. I can totally see why Cora was attracted to him. Very much Book-Boyfriend material.

I am not one for extra drama in books, especially when it has to do with a TRUE bad guy. But I think for this book to have that in it, it was handled well. It didn't piss me off, which is a good thing! I also like that they didn't have some huge dramatic fight, where they were on their own for a chunk of the book! So, well done Jay Crownover, and Thank you for doing that!

I do however wish we got to see a little more of their ending, if you know what I mean. I assume we will see it in the next book, but still.

I really enjoyed this story, possibly more than Rule/Shaw. I felt that the emotional difficulties that they had to work through in order to have a relationship read true to life. I think there was the right amount of heat and angst, of promise and roadblocks, to make keep the story engaging. I read it in one sitting in the middle of the night, if that tells you anything.

I really respected the honor and integrity that Rome had. He has always been a stand-up guy and this gave him bonus points in my opinion. It shows that a man can be a badass and edgy and complicated, without sacrificing his morals or breaking the law.

Cora was also a great character to follow around. I think she was a bit livelier and bold than Shaw, which I liked. While Shaw had to grow a bit as a character throughout her plot arc, Cora was ready to go toe-to-toe with any of the men from the start.

Did some of the plot elements veer off and feel a little contrived at times? Sure. But not that it affected the enjoyability of the story at all. It was like a good blend of reality with a hot soap opera.
