Enemies to lovers in this cute soccer romance inspired by Ted Lasso! Oliver Bergman is a rising soccer star, he's always a ball of sunshine and smiles and is the heart of the team's spirit. The only problem is that he just can't seem to get his idol and captain of his team, Gavin, to actually like him. Oliver is still reeling from a disastrous past relationship and has made it a rule to never get into a relationship with another person on his team. Yet he can't seem to fight his attraction to his misanthropic and grumpy captain. When Oliver is made co-captain with Gavin, things only ramp up ( it doesn't help that they are neighbors). Gavin was Oliver's first big crush and awakening into being queer, yet the reality of Gavin has been a bit of a let down. Ten years his senior, Gavin Hayes is a legendary soccer player and a demanding captain. He's misanthropic, grumpy, and a loner. The moment he met Oliver, Gavin knew they couldn't be friends because when he's not annoying him, Oliver is tempting him. When they are made co-captains, the hostility between them rises, and sick with it, their Coach gives them an ultimatum: they have to end their enmity or say goodbye to being captain. Oliver and Gavin begin to get to know each other better and realize that the chemistry between them is definitely there and that they both feel it. Can these two make it work or are they just too different? Reading in the author note that Oliver was a character inspired by Ted Lasso's spirit and that Gavin was inspired by Roy Kent, it definitely can be seen that way. Overall it was a really cute soccer romance and I had fun with it!

"I'm a miserable, pain-riddled misanthrope, and he's a perennially ray of fucking sunshine."
Ted Lasso but if Ted and Roy Kent fucked. Really.
Just to get out of the way, i read Everything for You without reading any of the other "Bergman Brothers" novels, because i can't be bothered to read straight romance most of the time, and i just wanted to read this one because i was really excited when i found out it was a gay soccer romance, so it's safe to say you can read this one without reading all the other books. Of course, the other family members pop out here and there and i definitely don't remember everyone's names because Oliver's family is HUGE. No, really, my reaction was exactly the same as Gavin's when he found out Oliver has SIX SIBLINGS. And most of them have a significant other! And some of them have children!!!!
Back to the book. I thought it was awesome, the exact pinch of romance, smut and angst i like. Gavin is awesome and his hate for everything and everyone didn't feel forced to me because i also hate everything and everyone. Misanthropes unite.
"God, you feel so good, taste so good, so much better than I-" He kisses me harder, stopping himself, but it's not difficult to fill in the rest of that sentence.
I smile against his mouth. "Been thinking about this, huh, Hayes?
"Like you haven't, too."
"Maybe just a little bit."
I wish i could read more of this story, and i'll probably skim through the next books in this series just so i can catch up to what Gavin and Oliver are up to. Gavin's grumpness and Oliver's humor clash very well together, and the fact that even though Gavin hates people he still loves Oliver's niece? Awesome. Love me some grump who's soft on children.
I have to say i've got two complaints. One, there's too many Hamilton references. I like Hamilton just as the next guy but... i felt it was too many. Not that it bothered me that much, but anyway. Second, most of the time the characters were jerking each other off the author kept using words like fist, fisted, fisting and..... i get what the author was trying to say but i don't think anyone says "fisted" while talking about jerking off. That's a whole other sex thing.
Anyway, "Everything for You" is an amazing book, perfect for fans of Ted Lasso, the grumpy/sunshine couples, oh my god they were roommates and there was only one bed tropes.
Thank you Chloe Liese and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a honest review!

Oliver gets his turn
Having met Oliver in the early Bergman books, I’ve been waiting for him to get his own story. Chloe Liese did not disappoint! The sensitive way the characters learn about themselves and each other is my favorite part of her books. I can’t wait for the last two siblings’ books.

I think this could be one of my favorite so far in the Bergman story, I absolutely loved Oliver & Gavin they are the definition of grumpy/sunshine!
Gavin is coming to the end of his career, his body cant take much more of the strain playing professional soccer causes. Add in a younger in his prime, totally happy & gorgeous Oliver who is becoming everything Gavin once was.
They now have to co captain the team with 2 very different captain styles and they are also neighbours.
The Ying and Yang of these 2 was exactly how a grumpy sunshine should be and i loved Gavin's little crew of OAP's.

this was a very fun read! it was aggressively millennial at times (hamilton references and the use of the word feels) and i also think the final third dragged a little longer than it needed to but i did read this in one sitting in the middle of the night sooo clearly i liked it enough

Almost perfect, I resonated so much with Gavin because of his wrecked knee and how he handled it/his outlook on life because of that
