Borrowed via Audible Escape. Story was 3.5 stars. Narrators a solid 4 stars for both.

This was a significant improvement on Kaleb in terms of consistency/quality of narrators and plot. Even with the youngest Walker brother as MC, 24 yo Zane, this felt much more mature than book 1. Vanessa’s (henceforth shall be called just V) issues, especially PTSD, were handled by all like adults.

The secondary characters as well were treated to more cohesive development instead of what felt like “vaguebooking” last time. I feel more invested in hearing about Travis and can’t wait for Beau to get his HEA.

Content FYI: MF, MFM, MMF, & some MM kissing between secondary characters.

So Edward left me suffering from a minor heart attack at the very end of Kaleb involving Zane getting the snot beat out of him while V watched it all go down from her front door. During the entire prologue and first chapter, I couldn’t breathe while reading. I just needed to absorb everything that was going down; I needed to know that Zane was going to be okay and that their relationship was going to be stronger. But that didn’t happen right off the bat and this is why I loved this book. Zane wants nothing but V but V is terrified that being with Zane will get him hurt again, so she backs off. They struggle with their relationship because when they are together it is hot and intense, however V has a hard time accepting her feelings for Zane because of her fear and her past, this causes a strain on both the main characters…you know I love me some drama!

It was great to read how Zane was willing to do anything to get her back. He helped her work through her panic attacks, he made her feel loved, he protected her, and he brought in his best friend Beau, um, yeah…nice!

Edward sure knows how to write the Walker boys and make me love them.

It is tense has angst, smutt and so fun to read. It's a mix of seriousness and romantic tension which I like. The series love interest isn't the type I like to read about normally but I'm really enjoying the series.

4-4.5 holy hotness stars

If I have learned anything by reading the first two books in this series, it is that Nicole Edwards is pretty much untouchable when it comes to writing super scorchingly hot sex scenes.

I adored the first book, [b:Kaleb|17181891|Kaleb (Alluring Indulgence, #1)|Nicole Edwards|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1356482087s/17181891.jpg|23628682], and loved that it was pretty straight-forward in it's storytelling. Very little angst and heavy on the smutty goodness while still telling a sweet love story. With Zane, Edwards has added a heavy dose of angst (not one of my favorite plot devices), and a bit of OTT melodrama into the mix. And it is because of those two things that I am unable to give this book a 5 star rating.

Don't get me wrong. I really, really enjoyed this book. I love spending time with these characters and I love the family dynamic among the Walker brothers. However, as is so often the case for me lately...my main problem was with the female lead, V. I liked her spunkiness in the first book. But, here she was much too...whiny i guess is the only way i can describe it. Yes, i understand her being traumatized by the attack on Zane at the beginning of the book. But for me, far too much time was spent rehashing that one event. I found myself relating to Zane's attitude of wanting to move past that one incident, so I continually I found myself skimming the sections where we had to listen to V's inner monologue where she obsessed over the attack. Frankly I didn't like anything about that part of the plot, and could have done without it all together.

Now, moving on to what this book gets right....the smutty goodness.

I had no clue going into this book that Edwards was going to be teasing me with a little bit of M/M action. All I can say is, I approve and I wanted more!!

When I saw that Edwards was planning on a releasing a Walker brothers Holiday novella, I joked that it was going to turn into one massive orgy. Well, after reading this book...I might not be so far off. And I am TOTALLY okay with that.

The fact that so many of the side characters are involved with each other...it might have become a bit overwhelming and complicated, but for me...I loved it. One of the strongest aspect to these books are the characters and how they interact, so the more we get to see of them all, the happier I am.

And let me just state for the record....the Zane/Beau/V hook up (heavy on the Zane/Beau) was hands down one of the hottest scenes I have ever read.

If i had anything to complain about regarding that particular aspect of the book? The way Zane kept insisting to himself that he was 'only doing it for Beau'. Seriously?!

I mean, if you're going to include a M/M aspect to the story (which, if you hadn't guessed by now - I am totally on board for), the least you can do is have the characters embrace it. I mean, a guy is not going to have sex with another guy just to make the other guy happy. That is absolutely ridiculous. Period. End of debate.

Despite my problems with the book, I really did enjoy the heck out of it. And I can't wait to see what's in store for Travis. ;)

Zane was freaking A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I had to start with that just get it to off my chest!

I was so excited to get to this book because of all the hype I had heard about it. Well it didn't disappoint. Knowing how Kaleb left off, I wasn't sure what to expect in Zane. I was very glad to see that he made it through the horrific beating and was recovering. I was sad to see that V was taking the blame for the event and therefore distancing herself from Zane because she thought that's what was best for him. V tried very hard to convince Zane and herself that what they had was "just sex" but even though they wouldn't come out and admit it they both knew better.

“Then what’s the problem?” He was getting irritated now. “Are you scared, V? Scared that fucking me might turn into something more?” Taunting her, he continued, “Scared that I might just be able to get past that impenetrable outer shell?”

Zane is drool worthy, with an extra side a smokin' hot Texas cowboy! I loved how for the most part he was open with his thoughts and feelings. V was very scared of becoming her mother. She didn't want the reputation her mother had and tried very hard to put up her walls to keep people out so that she couldn't hurt or disappoint them.

This story took a very HOT turn when Beau entered the scene! Wow, what to say about Beau? He is Zane's best friend, who he has shared many women with. He is a shy, super hot cowboy who is very open to trying new things.

The scenes with Zane and V were full of hot, beyond amazing sex but then you add in a dash of Beau and my Kindle almost caught fire! I needed AC and a cold shower stat!

Zane had some amazing turns that I never expected and kept me glued to my kindle, I read this in one sitting! Nicole Edwards is AMAZING! I am so glad that Zane and V got their HEA and can't wait to hear more about them in future books from this series.

"I love you Vanessa Carmichael. I love you with everything that I am."

I give this book 5 scorching hot stars!
