This was a really good book! I would have enjoyed it more had I read book 1 first, but that's not the point. I felt like I was observing the story as it happened. I really got Trin's character, while the others seemed a bit further afield. I'm gonna have to go back and read book 1 because I am actually interested to see what happens next, but need a bit more of the back story first. The book could have been a bit better because I felt some of the incantations were a bit repetitive. a

1/10 cool idea with the time travel but the characters are all bland and stereotypical and I don't like the blatant casual racism. No more for me.

The Daughters of Maine (Book 2 in the Witches of BlackBrook series) by Tish Thawer is the follow up book in a paranormal series that I gave 4 out of 5 stars. This book is written in third person POV, and continues where Book 1 one left off- I highly recommend reading The Witches of BlackBrook first. This novel centers on the reuniting of the three sisters: Trin, Caris, and Kennedy.
Though separated for centuries, the three sisters are finally together after defeating Ann Putnum and vanquishing her powers. They thought coming back together would be easy, “but here we are trying our damnedest to reacquaint ourselves with long lost versions of the past that no longer exist”. Trin, as eldest, is used to being the strength and caring for her younger sisters. Yet Kennedy as the youngest is no longer the fragile innocent child-she’s a scrappy intelligent FBI agent. They need to find their back into each other’s hearts, but fate throws a fireball at that. Ann has resurfaced in present day, and taken someone close to the sisters baiting them into finding her. What sinister plans lurk in Ann’s warped mind now? Will the sisters be able to re-establish their bond in time to vanquish Ann once more? Read to find out.
This book is beautifully written with most passages sounding like prose. The intricate tale is woven with just the right amount of suspense that ensures the book never lags when jumping from the past to present day. The characters are well developed an established in this second book. There is a great twist that will leave you wanting more! Can’t wait for the third book!

I really like this whole story. It's unique, and I love the way it bounces back and forth through time. I enjoyed the second book more than the first one. It was more exciting and faster paced. I still see some of the same issues I saw with the first one, like sometimes bland dialogue and it doesn't feel fully fleshed out in some spots. I wish it was a little longer, so some parts weren't glossed over. But all in all, the storyline is good, and I wasn't ready for the surprise at the end. I'm anxious to read book 3.

The witches are back!!! I loved the first book and have been dying for his to come out. Tish did not disappoint! Her characters are incredible. The story line is fantastic. You do need to read the first book before diving into this. But it's a perfect continuation. It flows seamlessly from the first book. You can never go wrong with a book by Tish Thawer and this book is no exception.

The Daughters of Maine (Witches of BlackBrook Book 2) by Tish Thawer is the second book in the Witches of BlackBrook series. I would recommend that you read book one before this one as it will give you background information on the characters in this story will be helpful when reading this one. This story is full of time travel, witches and fantasy. You will love how the author has created situations with these characters that keep the story flowing. This story is full of suspense, action and a touch of romance. This story is about how lost souls finding each other again. Find out what happens with these characters as they travel through time.

In the present day three sisters have reunited, Trin, Caris and Kennedy and then of course you have to have the sexy man named Jason. What will happen when Trin starts having nightmares she can't remember? Is their enemy back hunting her? They agree to cast a spell to figure it out but before that can happen, Trin's identify has been stolen. Who would do such a thing? Will they figure out the mystery? This is where they get separated once again as they try to save their new coven and themselves. Are they in danger?

What will happen when their enemy starts threatening their past? They will have to take a trip that could change their lives forever. Do they have a choice but to travel back through time to stop things from changing? Will Jason be their savior? They will end up walking their past footsteps but will it provide the answers they are looking for? So many choices but what will they do? Will they once again be separated for years? Are their souls bound forever?

This is my first story by Tish Thawer and I know it won't be the last. I can't wait for the third book to come out so I can find out what happens with these characters. Tish lives in Colorado with her husband and three children. She writes paranormal romances for all ages. She is a columnist for Gliterary Girl media and has bylines in RT Magazine and Literary Lunes Magazine. This author has created a story that will pull you in from the first page forward. This is a fast page turner that will leave you wanting more and needing to find out what will happen at the end. You will totally lose track of time reading this story. The twists and turns keep the story flowing from page to page. I highly suggest this story as I know you will want to see what happens to these sisters as much as I did.

“Through space and time, sisters entwined. Lost then found, souls remain bound.”

The Daughters of Maine is the second book in the Witches of BlackBrook, by Tish Thawer. It is a paranormal/fantasy; a story about witches- with lots of action, adventure, magic, time travel, history, drama and suspense. So much happens in this story, writing this review will be difficult because I don’t want to give away any spoilers. But I’m going to try…
This story follows on from where book one left off. The sisters Trin, Caris (Kara) and Kennedy (Kenna) are now reunited in the present day. The sisters have lived many life times that have spanned the centuries. They are witches, each one capable of wielding incredible magic- but when they combined their abilities it magnifies their powers considerably. In the last book Trin had stripped Ann of her powers and banished her to Salem.
As the story opens, we find Ann trying to wield magic, to open a portal to the past. Ann is angry and vengeful- she’s desperately seeking a way to regain her powers and strike back at the sisters. She is frustrated because she can’t get the spell exactly right. She misses her powers and having to do magic the long and complicated way, frustrates her. But she is determined to succeed, and is willing to do whatever it takes to do so.
In the meanwhile, Trin has been having troubling nightmares that have given her considerable unease. She can’t remember them, except that they seem ominous and give her the sense that something bad is about to happen. She needs to figure out why she’s having these nightmares, because it could be important.
This starts them on an incredible journey that has the sisters travelling though time in an effort to prevent the timelines and future from being altered. They are pitted against dark and sinister forces- old enemies need to be dealt with, and old friendships will be renewed. Can the sisters prevail against the powerful evil that has hunted them through time? Will they succeed in their endeavour, or will someone pay the ultimate price?
Ms. Thawer is an incredible storyteller. She’s created a complex and multi-layered story that she has smoothly and skilfully choreographed into a very riveting read.
The characters are individual, with their own personalities, strengths, flaws and quirks. They are well written, likeable and fully realised.
The book has a great pace; it flows well, is easy to follow and is a fairly quick read.
There were quite a few twists and turns that had me flipping the pages to find out what was happening.
When the story ended, I wanted more, I wasn’t ready to leave it yet! The story is to be continued in book three and I can’t wait to find out what happens!
If you like witches, magic, time-travel and a riveting adventure- then this is definitely the book for you.

Thank you Ms. Thawer!
