[Read more at my blog, Geeky Reading!]

I went into this book a little wary, but mostly optimistic and excited, with a little dread because this was the end. And all of those feelings pulled off, really.

Some serious stuff happened with the town, some really messed up stuff, some really good stuff, all which is to be expected of this series, really. And I really loved it. I know that some people were growing wary and annoyed with the series, some people had already stopped reading, and I did agree that the series needed to end, but I still love this series, unabashedly, unashamed.

Some very needed stuff happened in this book, and Claire’s conflict with it all was very understandable. Something happened with Shane that was kind of horrible. Something bad happened to Amelie. Some other stuff happened to Michael and Eve. All kinds of things. All needed. All very good and exciting. And then the ending came much too soon for me. But I must say that I’m very satisfied with the ending, I really love what happened, it was so sweet and cute and fitting. It didn’t even take me time to get used to it, either, which was nice.

It kind of seems like Caine was saying sending some messages, one of which was about humans in general, how we can try to ignore the bad things in the world, pretend they're not happening because they're not in front of us, along with a couple others. I'm not sure how I feel about those things, some of them I agree with but some of them that I think either weren't needed or were pushed a little too hard. I don't want to get too into that, though.

I’m sad that the series is over, I’ll definitely miss it, but I will also definitely be re-reading it (as this is one of my top re-read series). I plan to read future books by Caine, although I’m a little wary of her next YA book (because I’m not a fan of Romeo and Juliet), but I will now have to read her adult Weather Warden series, of which I’ve already read the first book.

I don't know what to do with myself. It's over. I've been reading it since I was 14 and now there are no more books. It ended just about right, I loved the characters til the end, every single one. Reading it reminded me of everything that had ever happened in the series, which was so much that I almost forgot and in all of them there was something I loved. I'll re-read theses again and again because they're familiar, it's nostalgic of the hours I would spend reading this, coming home from school and completing them by 11pm. They were always un-putdownable. Like being able to re-read Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Spooks, Darren Shan... it's kind of like coming home no matter how cheesy that is. I love this series and I will always be able to revisit them, re read them no matter how old I'll be cause it will take me back to these past few years and how I grew up with Claire and loved all of them.

I can't wait to begin them again. 5 years on from when I first began them.

I found myself mad at the beginning of the book with all the foolishness of the daylight foundations be also with the ending talking about the weddings. I think it's because I only like to read about the action and the funny comments made by Myrnin.

Writer Person

I have never been so sad to watch a series end. For the longest time, I was just waiting for my local library to get this series. By the time it did, it was six books in and I tore through them. I was in seventh grade at the time, so I was exactly a seasoned reader and I was certainly not a review by any standards. But I loved them and I knew I wanted more. I knew this was going to be a long series. I just never actually considered it ending.

Soon after I read the first six, the next two came out. And I tore through those as well. And then I was caught up and I had to wait along with everyone else for each next book. And it was torture. But back then I didn't look up the next release date. So each time a new book came out it was the greatest surprise ever. I really liked that, but I so doubt I could ever do that again. I'm impatient and I like planning things and I'm just weird.

Needless to say, after I read Fall of Night, I had no idea the last book was coming out November 2013. Until I rejoined the book community in September 2013. So then I waited anxiously until its release and then even more anxiously until I was able to buy it in December and then I waited until February to slip off the dust jacket. And then I deliberated over reading it. I was scared. I really was. I wasn't sure if I'd like it, to be honest. Maybe I was different now.

Yeah, I'm not really all that different. I loved this book. Seeing everyone again was just amazing. They were old friends, quite literally. I watched them all grow up while I grew up and it's just an incredible feeling. I'm dying to reread Glass Houses just so I can compare the ending to the beginning.

One thing I always loved about this series is the amount of action in it. Drama, sure. But they live in a town with honest-to-goodness vampires. So there's real action. And it's so suiting that the ending is just more of that trend - lives at stake (haha, pun not intended but it's cool that it happened), things happening. I was scared for them, excited for them, couldn't be believe it was ending for them.

There were a couple moves that Rachel Caine made that I didn't necessarily like - namely the werewolf move and the resurrection move. The werewolf move was explained nicely, so that one could slide. After the draug, and ghosts, and Myrnin, the weird dog things were just more of the same in Morganville. But the resurrection thing, while relieving, also kind of pissed me off. It pains me to say that I'd rather the person had stayed dead. Really, it does. But I almost wish she had let that one go. Wow, I feel heartless saying that.

So why the five stars? Because this is one of my favorite series and I loved how Rachel Caine ended it, despite what I mentioned above. She nicely tied up loose ends and left our characters off in a place where I could be satisfied. It's happy, by Morganville Standards. So make of that what you will. But I, for one, was glad. Not a Mockingjay-type epilogue but that's okay. I still loved it. I still love the series. That's quite an accomplishment.

Well done, Rachel Caine. Well done. Thank you for these books. It was one heck of a ride.
^ The part where I get overly sentimental

Recommendation: for those who love the series. For those who haven't even started the series, you have no excuse. They are all out now. Go read them! Just saying.

Claire and her friends have arrived back in Morganville and receive a shock at the town border. The vampires are disabled and taken away by the police, and they are escorted to meet the new power in town-Rhys Fallon of the Daylight Foundation. Humans are taking back the town and facing a vampire free future...which Claire is going to have to destroy to save her vampire friends.

I'll be honest, I didn't much like book 14 which introduced the idea of the Daylighters and their anti-vampire plans, and I really hated the way the last book ended with the shocking welcome home in Morganville. I was somewhat reluctant to even pick up this book, thinking that I wasn't going to like the plot. Thankfully, my fears were unfounded and I found this to be a decent plot and satisfying ending to the series.

Morganville is totally different when the group return home. deserted buildings are being renovated, homes and businesses painted and restored, people out having fun and no longer afraid of the dark. However, the vampires have all been rounded up and put in a deserted shopping mall with shock collars on to keep them subdued, and are half starved. The Daylight Foundation claim to have a cure and vampires are to be subjected to it against their will to remove their threat through cure or death. Claire, Eve and Shane are well aware that if they want to save their vampire friends from this fate, they are going to be destroying the hopes and dreams of a lot of people in the town.

Within hours of going home, Claire becomes aware of just how difficult the situation is going to be. Miranda is tied to the house but has heard that the Founders Houses are going to be destroyed by the new regime. To save Miranda and the house from their enemies, they are going to have to be ready to defend themselves. When the police do a sudden search for illegal weapons, they find a dead cop's body in the basement and arrest Claire...and with Eve and Shane in hiding, who is going to save her?

I don't want to go any further into the plot in this book as it will spoil the entire plot if I do. I liked the idea of the vampire cure and how many vampires had no interest in going back to being human. There was also the terrible situation that Eve and Michael find themselves in with attitudes towards their union hardening, and a dangerous choice awaits them if they want to stay together. My one niggle is that when something dangerous is happening, Claire and Shane seem to have time to kiss and grope each other first, which is somewhat annoying when others need to be saved.

I was happy enough with the ending of the series compared to other favourite series that ended with a whimper. There was a proper conclusion to the story and it was left in such a way that it would be easy to pick up the threads of Morganville in the future. It is kind of sad that the main series is over but I very much enjoyed it while it lasted!

I can't believe that this is the end of the Morganville Vampire. I love this book. I don't like how Hannah turned against them and how they shot the vampires upon arrival. I don't like how they treat Eve and how they terminate her marraige. I like how Michael does everything he can to help her. I really like how in the end, everything works out fine and how Eve, Michael, Claire, and Shane get married together.
