This could have been good.
If:
You cut it in half.
You actually stick to one person's perspective.
You don't constantly repeat yourself.

But no. There are things in there that I like (but not many). It could have been a touching story of male friendship. Except for the whole bit that you hate both of these guys.

The female characters are incredibly shallowly drawn, but that's not a big surprise.

I thought Cujo would be the worst King book. I was very wrong.

This was a reread for me. It had been so long since I had originally read it that I felt like it was the first time. It wasn’t until over halfway into the book when things began to feel familiar. I had some issues with the character’s views on women as well as King’s using fat phobic phrases to describe some of the evil characters. That being said, when his writing is on point, it’s really fantastic! It was a perfect read during October. Creepy vibes all around!

Well, this book truly was scary. There were points in this story that i would actually shudder!! i liked it tho(: one of the greatest scary books i have read. i would like to see the movie!

I’m not really one for true horror, which is partly why I picked Christine as one of my introductory King novels. After all, a book about a car can’t be that scary, right? Well, partly right. In the end, it was much more suspenseful than I had expected and not outright scary. Still, I thought that using LeBay to ramp up the fear factor was a great move on King’s part, and his involvement in the story drew up some things that I hadn’t anticipated I would be fears of mine (i.e. choking to death). I wasn’t a huge fan of how sexual King’s description of Leigh was as it felt pretty shallow and reductionist, but that might just be me. Otherwise, not a terrible book.

My Stephen King re-read has led me to this one, but I'm actually not sure I ever read this as a kid. It's a goofy concept, and I think I skipped it because of that.

Anyway, it's surprisingly fun, despite the whole haunted car thing. And while it's not the best Stephen King book, it feels like the most Stephen King. You've got teenagers being teenagers, greasers, 50's rock and roll, and a supernatural enemy. Pretty much all the King cliches are here. But it's still enjoyable enough.

It is a bit long, and not necessarily for good reason. It's early King, so it still manages to be a relatively quick read, but there's a lot of fat in this book.

It's not one of my favorites, but it's not a bad book by any means - and it's certainly better than [b:Cujo|10603|Cujo|Stephen King|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1394208144s/10603.jpg|996156].

That last push bumped this to a four star read for me.
