The title tells you all you need to know. If you are in a relationship, you will relate to some of these. I devoured it in one sitting and laughed out loud more than once. A few were a bit sad, but mostly a lighthearted look at love.

Hilarious and enjoyable, especially when read out loud to your spouse. Quite a few were cringy and none but the last end happily. Still, a nice read.

A cute concept that portrays the lack of magic in long term relationships well in the first few poems, but turns depressing as it continues on.

I feel like this shouldn't have been a book. The original post at The New Yorker contains the best poems in this collection by far (and I do really like these). The rest feel like they too often cross the line into jaded cynicism that keeps me from really liking Tom Perrotta's books.

Others may like it more, but I only finished because it's so short.

At first I was like, um, well, I'm not sure I'm the right kind of married person for this. Maybe this book is really Love Poems for Married People Who Have Kids and Argue a Lot. Then I came upon a poem about trying to tell a story, with the lines, "Like smoke, I added, needlessly, / looking at you, because I was telling it. / Even though you were telling it first." And I was like, OMG YOU ARE SEEING INTO MY LIFE EVERY DAY. Also an excellent poem about the frustrations of putting together IKEA furniture. Also a poem about someone making someone else late because they're clipping their nails, which is a very strong college roommate memory for me.

So, check it out, even if you're not married. I bet one of these poems will speak to you.

This was such a cute book! I had never heard about this but saw it while at my local library! I thought I would pick it up since I am now a married woman. I thought they were truthful but funny! I even had to read some to my wife because it fit us!! Such a fun short read but definitely worth the read!
