Yeah... It just got to be too much. Plus, it made me very grumpy.

I love it when sequels start right where the previous book ended. This one does just that. Reading book one is imperative to understanding what is happening in this relationship and how it developed so quickly. It isn't quite insta-love, and I absolutely hate that trope, but in this case the love that the couple shares is hard earned and worth reading about. Even if it does seem sudden to the readers.

Now... for book two. There is just as much drama in this one as there was in book one! I might say a bit more actually. In book one most of the drama was from the growth of their relationship and the fact that they did not know each other. The drama in this one occurs because of many outside, mostly familial influences.

I loved this just as much as book one though. Although the innocence is gone and there is growth. Innocence was a great allure for the first one, but in this one the two main characters have something to fight for; each other.

That said, the other characters are not going to make life easy on these two. They just started their relationship and already they are being put to the test to how far they will go for each other. Drama normally turns me off of books but it is the drama that feels staged, where the characters are made to do things that you would think would be against their character's reaction. This drama was fabulously dramatic and alluring. Every minute had me glued to the pages and absorbing every word.

There is character growth, and there is some real love here. Insta-love it may be, but with this plot, it is more than just insta-love, it is fabulous.

Hoping there will be a book three!

Finishes the first book. I still don't know why the break in the two, though.

Meine Meinung:

Why I picked that quote: I think it embodies how Annie ended up in the backwoods of NC. Running from her abusive husband and trying to find a reason to love life.

Overall Rating: 4.8/5 Stars

✧Breakdown of Rating✧

Plot: 4.8/5 I was pulled in right from the beginning…the story unfolds excellently. This two book collection has a lot of elements to it, with a little of this, and a little of that, and a whole lot of sex thrown in.

Characters: 5/5 Endearingly damaged...and I was totally invested in their story.

The Feels: 5/5

Theme: 5/5

Flow: 5/5

Originality: 4/5 This premise is definitely been done before, just not quite like this.

Book Cover: 3/5 If you’re going to put people on the cover, you should at least pick ones that resemble your characters descriptions.

Sex Factor: Well written and very sexually explicit, you have to be able to get in touch with your naughty side.

Ending: 4.5/5 For EILU--Intense, I’m surprised I didn’t see it coming. For TTAH—MC books are not my thing. I'm glad it wasn't all about that. Cliffhanger: For EILU--Epic cliffy. Seriously, your killing me with that ending. Good thing I had the second book ready to go. For TTAH—No Cliffhanger...with an awesome epilogue.

Will I read more from this Author? For sure…

My Additional Thoughts:

Oh my gosh, this is so naughty, but I liked it.

My only qualm…breaking this couples story into two books, it should have been one complete book. This is why I’m reviewing the two books as one. Although, part of the reason I’m doing that is because I’m really far behind on my reviews.

The Truth About Him by M O'Keefe is a 2015 Random House publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book is the conclusion to the first book - “Everything I left Unsaid” and as you will recall that book left us in a very bad place with the mother of all cliffhangers.

Thankfully, we didn't have to wait too long between books, to find out what happened. Suffice it to say, the story charges from the gate with some truly shocking developments.

But, it is finally time for Annie to really move forward with her life and she desperately wants Dylan to be a part of it, but, Dylan is convinced Annie could do better and does everything in his power to run from the love he feels for her and pushes her way as hard as he possibly can, constantly berating himself, second guessing, and beating himself up.

In the meanwhile, Dylan and Annie learn some disturbing things about Ben and Joan, plus Dylan's brother, Max, disappears, making his MC very uneasy, putting Dylan in the crossfire, a place he is trying to avoid at all cost.

As the story progresses, we see two very wounded and scarred people learn to let go of their demons, little by little, face their fears, and allow themselves to receive what the other has to offer. It's a slow, hard fought battle with a lot of outside influences trying to keep them down and in danger. But, these two have a key word that describes them and their relationship perfectly ...Bedrock. There couldn't be a more fitting motto for this couple.

What I like best about this second book, was how gritty, raw, and emotional it is . While this book is written in the New Adult format, with dual first person perspectives, the story doesn't have that immature, whiny angst so many NA novels have. I would recommend it to contemporary romance readers more so than any other genre or sub-genre.

This is a very tight, taut, nerve wracking tale, on one hand, but an inspirational story too. I did grow frustrated with Dylan on more than one occasion, but understood his wariness, and knew he had to go through some things, just like Annie, in order to take that next step.

The tension was almost too much at times, though, and I found myself putting the book away for a little bit and coming back to it later, simply because it was on such a high emotional plane at all times. That's not a bad thing, but it was intense.

The sexual aspects of the story were very, very steamy, and was very much a continuation of Annie's sexual awakening, which means some experimentation that is firmly on the erotica side of things.

Overall, I was pleased with the outcome and enjoyed this pair of novels by M. O'Keefe, which was certainly unlike anything else I've read recently. It was outside the box a little and challenged me some, and that's always a plus when you read as much as I do.

DNF'd at 70%. I just can't anymore. I don't like them, I don't care about the story... It seems like the only interesting stuff happened at the beginning.

I hate not finishing a book, but whatever. Maybe I will try again in the future.
