This is very informative and fairly easy to read. I've been interested in the high fat/low carb diet for a long time, and was very intrigued by this book because it addresses how this diet can affect cancer and other diseases. I like that he presents the science behind the different aspects of the diet and how high fat/low carb works at the cellular level (which was the selling point for me).

This book was 1/3 love it, 2/3 hate it for me. Some part were good or interesting--but there is a lot I disagreed with.

But I bumped up a star due to the fact that this book motivated me to get back on track.

Fat for fuel is a science-based book on mitochondria and essentially describes the Ketogenic diet. It's all about low-carb and high good fats. There are some good insights in the way we eat food, how we intake fats, boost our brains, and gain energy, as it says in the title. I figure you eat horrible food, you feel sluggish. If you eat highly nutritious foods, you have more energy.

Foods are turned into energy for the brain and you focus better. I've just recently started Keto so it was good to see the science behind what my doctors have been saying. However, I'm not one to stick completely to a "diet." It's more of the mentality and keeping to lifestyle. Good read.

Excellent Book on Keto styled diets and the effect they have on the body. The author calls his variation of the diet by an acronym since it purports to focus on mitochondrial activity but it is primarily a Keto diet. Much solid information with references and presented with the scientific information intact, not written at the Post Graduate level, but not written at the overly simplistic level that many seem to use when writing a mass media book. I have read at least 50 books on similar information, and I think this one does the best job of pulling it all together. There are a few statements made that I will want to read more on before using the data personally, but overall I am highly impressed. I do recommend buying the paper copy due to the fact that the reader will almost certainly want to have the ability to markup sections, extract information for notes etc. The Kindle version just wasn't adequate for this. Recommended

Some new information in this book, namely, the impact of dietary energy sources on mitochondria and how that affects our health. Most of it is well-documented in the scientific literature, and Mercola cites his sources. Most interesting were the sections on the aging effect of over-consumption of protein, the damage that can be incurred by excess iron, and the benefits of direct sunlight. Not so sure about the whole grounding thing, though (he recommends walking barefoot on sand or wet grass to "ground to the electron-enriched Earth"). Accessibly-written and engaging.
