I received this title as an ARC from Valentine PR!!
I cannot begin to describe how much I enjoyed this story. Mr. Broody has the perfect blend of heart, humor, and emotional depth that any contemporary romance strives for. I love author duos, I think they bring so much to the table, and that shows in this story. The writing shines not only because of our compelling central couple, Henry and Jade, but also due to its rich ensemble cast and thoughtful character development.
The story perfectly encapsulates second-chance romances and that scary, wonderful feeling that love always gives us. Their relationship feels authentic, built on slow-burn tension, mutual respect, and shared vulnerabilities. The way they navigate trust, ambition, and their past heartbreak (it’s more like heartache which I’m all for) with each other makes their love story deeply resonant and satisfying.
What truly elevates the book, however, is the ensemble cast. From the hilarious yet loyal teammates to the adorable elementary kiddos, every character is fully realized and adds layers of depth to the story. The camaraderie within the hockey team is a highlight, providing moments of humor and warmth that balance the intensity of the romance.
Mr. Broody is a heartfelt, angsty yet satisfying read that will stay with you long after the final page. Highly recommended!

Jane and Henry have been friends since they were kids. Her stepdad was his big brother, and they seem to have done pretty much everything together. In college, he knew that she would give up her dreams to follow him. When he pushed her away he didn't think it would take this many years in order to get her back. This time is different though, now he has his son, Bodhi, and he will do whatever he has to in order to protect him and his heart even if it means leaving his shattered because he doesn't have the woman he's always wanted.
Jade is finally home after being convinced by her mom, who needs eye surgery, and it seems as though everywhere she goes Henry is there. She has been traveling the world as a photographer, but it isn't as much fun for her anymore. Maybe she will decide to stay in Chicago with the man that she has always loved and her family.
This was a fun and emotional look into the lives of two people who have been so intertwined with one another that it is impossible to live in the same city and live separate lives. I mean, her stepfather helped to raise Henry. Henry has been the strong, careful, and fatherly member of the hockey team and his friends, I guess that's why he has his nickname. I have enjoyed seeing Henry in the books of this series, but getting to know more about him was better than I thought it would be. It was sweet watching Jade and Henry reform the bond that has always been between them, and watching Bodhi and Henry's friends set these two up was hilarious and super sweet. These two characters were realistic, emotionally intimate, and had incredible chemistry. You cannot help but root for their HEA. I had the opportunity to both read an ARC and listen to the audiobook and they are both fantastic depending on the format that you prefer. I am looking forward to reading Mr. Swoony and the journey he takes us on.
Received ARC in exchange for a voluntary honest review from Piper Rayne and Valentine PR.

What a great second chance/childhood best friend story! If you love hockey boys, second chances and single dad romances- pick this up!
Thank you to Valentine PR for this ARC!

I absolutely loved this book. Henry, Jade, and sweet little Bodhi have a special place in my heart. Henry and Jade’s story is the perfect second-chance romance. They fell in love at a young age. After college, and when Henry's hockey career was about to start, he broke up with Jade because he didn't want to hold her back. After eight years apart, Jade returned home, and their reunion at a bar reignited old feelings. Despite being apart and navigating obstacles, they had an undeniable connection and were ready to give love another chance.
This is such a sweet and emotional story! Henry and Jade were truly meant to be together. I totally understood the decisions Henry made when they went their separate ways. Did I agree with him? Not really. Reading those moments was heartbreaking, but maybe their relationship was better because of the time they had to focus on themselves. Second-chance romance is one of my favorite tropes, and their journey back to each other made my heart happy. I loved little Bodhi and his meddling. The chapters in his POV were the cutest, and I loved how well Jade and Bodhi connected. Mr. Broody is filled with humor, fun banter, all the swoon, sizzling spice, and a wonderful found family element.
Narration:
The audiobook did not disappoint. When I saw a full cast of some of my favorites were involved, I knew it would be a good time. Brooke Bloomingdale and JF Harding did a fantastic job giving voices to Jade and Henry. They brought so much life to the characters and captured every emotion. I ADORED Teddy Hamilton as Bodhi. The entire cast was phenomenal. JF Harding, Brooke Bloomingdale, Troy Duran, Connor Crais, Sean Masters, Teddy Hamilton, and CJ Bloom are super-talented narrators/voice actors. It truly does not get any better than having them all on one audiobook.

I am a sucker for both second chances & cute kids so I fell hard for this one. I read it in tandem with doing the audiobook and both were amazing. I really loved Henry and Bodhi when I read Mr. Heartbreaker and the whole vibe of the Nest. But what really did me in were the chapters in Bodhi’s POV

beyond grateful to @authorpiperrayne and @valentine_pr_ for this arc
i’ll probably be saying this about all The Nest books but Henry’s story is my new favorite the inclusion of Bodhi’s pov, the absence of a third act breakup, the lifelong connection between Henry and Jade, (the build up to the next book!!!) it was truly forced proximity, second chance perfection.
i loved how i could feel the emotions between them and the beautiful bits of found family incorporated. it was as if id know these characters their whole lives. there’s so much depth to the writing and i cannot wait to be back in this world for Mr. Swoony. if you want to find a new hockey romance for 2025 you have to pick up this series
