This book is the book that I've read that has changed my behavior the most. This book is a sweeping overview of why we need sleep, and how broken we become if we don't get it. What most people believe to be adequate sleep is most assuredly not adequate, and having the foremost expert in the field usher you through the latest research about what not getting adequate sleep does to one's mind and body is certainly very convincing. If you think averaging 7 hours of sleep per night is good enough, and you catch up on the weekends, read this book! you will sing a different tune by the end.

Audiobook version; textbook-like. But honestly great for a commute background book to listen to. Got so many wonderful insights and fun facts, but didn’t worry too much about missing any details.
The liberal use of scare tactics gets annoying but the science is clear. We need more sleep and it should be a priority to achieve good sleep. Highly recomend.

You bet your ass I’ve been sleeping more after picking up this book
Great non-fic; this changed the way I thought about sleep!!! A fair deal of the content is common sense (sleep is important to health, caffeine/alcohol can make it harder to sleep, etc.) but he expands on these facts and introduces new data/theories/tips I am going to try to implement in my life.

There were a lot of interesting things presented here, but so much hypothesis is mixed with fact, it gets tiring. It is a hard thing, because sleep doesn't seem to be a "hard" science yet. What is true for one isn't necessarily true for another, so I like the trends that are pointed out, but don't like that they are presented as cold hard facts.
If these were indisputable facts, which they one day may be, there would be massive societal change.
