I picked up this book after hearing the author interviewed on a podcast. As someone who struggles a bit in the sleep department, I found it to be a very interesting and enlightening read! It made me much more aware of the importance of sleep and inspired me to try and find ways to increase my own slumber. I highly recommend!
J’étais très intéressé au début sur le sujet c’est pas une lecture légère et malgré le fait que c’est un sujet très intéressant selon moi je ne souhaite plus poursuive cette lecture pour le moment du moins 🙂

This is novel is a very comprehensive investigation into why we sleep, the importance of sleep, tips for getting better quality sleep, and how the modern world and workforce doesn’t allow us get the sleep we so desperately need.
I listened to this book as an audiobook and thought that the narrator had a very engaging narrative voice and the novel was a good format as an audiobook. The book was a good mix of scientific explanation, and real world examples and applications.
One criticism is that there were some points in this book where I felt a building sense of anxiety over my sleep habits and routine. Like, a big sense of guilt over the fact that I frequently hang out in bed reading and watching Netflix, when Matthew walker says I should reserve the bed for sleep only so that my brain associates that environment with sleep. Or as I’m trying to fall asleep, I’m hyper aware of the room temperature and stressed about whether my core temperature is dropping so that I can get to sleep. Or the fact that sleep deprivation is linked to the acceleration of many health issues such as cancer, diabetes, weight gain, heat disease and poor fertility...
These are simply just facts that the book is showing to build a case for why we should get quality sleep, so I think that these are very valid things for Walker to be talking about... it’s just a lot sometimes.
Also I feel that the book could be shortened. There were times where I felt content could be explained more succinctly, especially in the early chapters when Walker is explaining jet lag.
Overall, enjoyable audiobook. Would recommend if you’re interested in sleep.
