This was one of the best non-fiction books I have ever read. It is both enlightening and terrifying. A must-read for everyone who sleeps :)
Best non-fiction book I read in 2019. Absolutely fascinating and habit-changing. After reading this book so many things finally make sense that it would take me at least an hour to list all of them here. I rarely re-read books, but this one is already on my reading list for next year!
This will make yiu want to get more sleep and make societal changes to make sure everyone else does too

I'm not one for reading books and feeling like my life changed dramatically in some way, that being said, this book definitely made me think twice about so many things regarding my own sleep hygiene. The author obliterated any preconceived notions I thought were true and replaced them with interesting factual information for me to go forth and conquer my sleep habits.
Each chapter builds up your understanding of sleep and how as homosapiens we have systematically, slowly and surely been deconstructing our overall sleep health. Matthew does this in a way that does not bash the reader but rather helps them understand the epidemic that is sleep and how you can rectify it. Each chapter if full to the brim of studies, research, all of which are condensed down into the key information you need and relative to the flow of the book, truly incredible as this could of been such a bigger book.
I seriously enncourage anyone who is curious about the magical drug that is sleep, or looking for an amazing read, to pick this up as you won't be disappointed.

Nothing like reading about the importance of sleep while nursing at 3 am.
Quite persuasive. Huge eye-opener to the importance of sleep in so many ways.
Also very practical. Actionable insights that have already helped me make positive changes in my life.
Writing style is a little flamboyantly academic. And perspective is quite polemic, which, on occasion, undermines the points being made. Often places a lot of weight in correlation. I find myself convinced of the author's overarching theses, but I'd look for more data and a less polemic communicator for some of the more speculative assertions.
