Spoiler You know it's bad when you don't care about a character's death and you just roll your eyes at the protagonist. To be fair, the book started promising. The three characters did well when they were alone, but the moment they were faced with danger, they somehow regressed especially Lucy. These are not young teenagers, they're 17 year olds but behaved like they were much younger. Lucy somewhow cared more about her friends than her family and would focus on being jealous rather than worry about their safety. I'm giving this a 2.5 because I still wanted to finish the book and am even considering to continue with the sequels.

I could not put this down. I don't usually read YA fiction ( it's subject matter does not interest me, and I get sick and tired of female book bloggers drooling over mediocrity), but this was freakin' awesome. The characters are compelling, the plot pulls you along without too many unnecessary twists as plot devices, and the overall context - end of the world in order to start again- quite plausible. My only critique: the biohazard caused by so many rotting, decaying bodies. Cholera and typhoid should have been in the mix as real threats as well.

If you're an adult who loves dystopic fiction, you'll enjoy this book.

I got this as a free kindle book or i paid $2.00 for it not sure. But I liked it a lot. I can't wait to read the next one. Compared to some of the other Post-Apocalyptic young adult i liked the fresh transportation they decided to use in the end. (not giving anything away) I also realized that the reason I like PA books because of the survival aspect of them but because of the traveling aspect of most PA books. I hope the next one stands up to the this one.

I liked this book, and I think sort of knowing the author made it better for me, but in my opinion the plot left something to be desired. This book didn't seem to go anywhere, and so I read it fast mostly because it was an easy read, and less because I was really drawn into it. The characters are pretty simple and mostly likeable, but I didn't feel very connected to them
even so, what the heck Shelbi? Killing off one of the main characters?
. I will probably finish the series because McFaul likes it, and also because I want to see it get better. Maybe if it was fantasy instead of science-fiction I would have liked it better.

Wescott! I loved this book so much!! It was really great, I couldn't put it down. I don't think that I will ever be able to look at the high school the same way after reading this book. Seriously Wescott, this was awesome. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!! :D
