What a cool person - great read!

Busy Philipps seems everywhere these days. I just started following her on instagram and I think she's funny, genuine, and real. Her audiobook was fantastic. She did separate voices for her friends that made stories come alive. It was a great mix of coming of age stories with a mix of hollywood and behind the scenes info.

Audiobook had great narration from the author. I think that I just ended up being more interested in the industry/later life stories

I almost gave up on this a couple times, but ended up liking the last third better than the rest of the book. In retrospect, this makes sense as I’m not sure I’ve ever seen BP act - I know her only through Insta - so her reflections on her marriage and children were much more interesting to me than the trajectory of her acting career.

I've been peripherally aware of Busy Philipps since way back when in Dawson's Creek. I've always thought of her as an entertaining actress but never gave her much thought or joined the cult of her Instagram followers. This book changed all that and made her into an incredibly interesting person. It's not only all she's gone through in life and her utter bravery in sharing some of her darker and unflattering moments but it also her unmistakable joie de vivre and clear, relatable voice.
I tore through this book because it reads like having an immensely enjoyable chat with someone whos' witty, charming, and self-deprecating. Like meeting someone for breakfast and suddenly realizing that time flew by and you're getting midnight tacos without even being aware of time passing by.

Mandatory note: I got my copy through GoodReads' First Reads.

You'll laugh; you'll cry; you'll really enjoy this book of the life and times of Busy Philipps - read by the author herself! From her childhood to college to her acting career up thru today, including her late-night TV talk show, Busy provides an honest, comedic, and humble look at herself and her experiences. This was fabulous and I can't wait for more from this "just-like-us" gal of a certain generation.

Got this on ebook from the library as a fluffy break in between heavier book club books. Appreciate her very honest and unedited voice, and her ability to portray herself warts and all. And she definitely has warts - she doesn’t hide her privilege, her mental health issues, her various bouts of self-destructive or self-sacrificing behavior. There’s a bit of name dropping and behind the scenes storytelling that celeb fans will enjoy.

I can’t help but wonder why she wanted to write this other than her self-stated desire for attention (and money, obviously). She comes across as sympathetic, but definitely will be the subject of judgment by many because she’s not conventional. And there’s no higher meaning revealed or anything, so I’d be curious to read more interviews with her to find out what she hoped people would get from the book.

If I am completely honest, this book was a random pick for me at Barnes and Noble. I have really been enjoying memoirs recently and this one stuck out. I have seen a few different shows/movies with Busy Philipps, but this book really changed my views of her as well as making it as an actress (although she has so many different roles that she discusses within the book). And I will also say that my views were not negative, but I simply did not know much about Philipps or actress-related topics.

When reading this memoir, I felt as though I could not only hear/ picture Philipps sharing her life-story, but was also becoming friends with her. I found that I could relate to her throughout the entirety of the book whether it be her mindset or just in situations that she would find herself in. I personally found it to be quite enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend it.

Loved this book. She has been through it!
