Repackaging meditation for a western audience. Liked him better before I read his book.

As someone who has used Wim's techniques, I would say his book does a great job of explaining his story, passion, and philosophy. The back end was a bit wordy in places but the brass tacks techniques and ideas are there for the taking. I am excited for more people to catch on!

I chose this book to read because I was interested in learning more about the Wim Hof Method - the logistics on how to do it, the benefits it may provide and any risks to watch out for. About 20% of the book was that - the other 80% was a stream of consciousness from Wim and topics and stories jumped around a lot. It was also very repetitive and redundant. I have to believe he is a better public speaker/teacher than author, as this was not a well crafted book. I'm still interested in the Method, but would tell people to find an alternative to learning about it instead of reading this book.

tough for me to give this one a rating. wim is spirited and committed, and his life experience and exploration of that which piques his curiosity has led him to incredible physical feats. more than that, his understanding of the capabilities we posses, in our bodies, minds, and souls, is profound and powerful. he shares his wisdom in order to empower us to reclaim our own agency and change our lives for the better. he has taken his life’s mission to heart and i hope more people expose themselves to his insight and practices.
is it a book i couldn’t put down? no. it’s not my type of obsessive-causing book, but i would encourage any person to read it who wants to better themselves and their lives, especially anyone suffering physically who feels they have no power to do anything about it. i am so grateful to wim and his passion, and i hope the world learns from his pursuit of connection to breath, self, and the world around us.
i also listened, partly, to yoko ono’s reading, which i really enjoyed. perhaps that also swayed me

What a book, what a human. I read this in research for meeting the man, if you'd like to hear how the encounter went please search Transforming Wim Hof wherever you get your podcasts. Meeting Wim, reading how he overcame adversity, and learning his WIM HOF METHOD, culminating in diving off a cliff into his ice bath, was for me (as for so many others), transformative and life changing.

Wim Hof method: 5/5
This particular book: 3/5

One of the first few books that I've read in 2022 includes this and I must admit , I was skeptical on the benefits and what WH preaches in the book. The method is really easy and while taking a cold shower in Canadian winter is literally torture , I would do it if it's supposed to have the benefits this book claims it has. I'm giving it three stars because practicing breath work is beneficial to all of us but the book sort of loops around on the same few points for 200 odd pages , thereby making it a boring read.

must confess that The Wim Hof Method had been sitting on my bookshelf for quite some time before I finally decided to dive in. While I had heard about Wim Hof's method before, I had never explored the history or science behind it in depth.
To my surprise, this book turned out to be a fascinating read. I was genuinely impressed by the wealth of science, experiments, research, and results that support the method. It’s clear that Wim Hof's practices are more than just anecdotal—they're backed by rigorous studies and compelling evidence.
I highly recommend giving this book a chance. It just might change the way you view your body and mind.
