Annabel Monaghan creates a thrilling story threw the eyes of a teen-age girl. Farrah, aka Digit, gets "kidnapped" to save not only her life, but the lives of many others. She and John, her dreamy body guard, escape to New York, where they try to solve a crime that was done by a crazy terroists group whose main mission is to "save the envirement." A Girl Named Digit is a fun quick read that was recemended to me by a good friend.

This is one of the most misleading covers that I've ever run into. This is a really smart, witty read, and the heroine is way cooler than the cover gives her credit for! I read it on recommendation, otherwise I never would have picked it up.

So this book has been on my TBR list for a while, but I'd never gottento buying it. So with all of my amazon gift cards i'd gotten for Christmas I thought why not, this book sounds pretty awesome. So I bought it and OMG, this book was good. No, I'm lying. This book was so fanfreakingtastic that I wanted to jump up and down and scream. So now that my total and complete love for this book has been established, let me break it down for you.
THE PREMISE
Farrah is a math genius, but because of the cruel ways of her middle school peers she hides her true self and mirrors her friends. Then when she is watching a show with her friends she sees these numbers across the bottom of the screen. She tries to disregard it, but she can't forever. The only link she can find is that the numbers might have something to do with John F Kennedy. After that when she learns that JFK airport suffered a terrorist bombing she talks to her dad who then takes her to the FBI. These events lead to her meeting John Bennet, who's job is now to protect Digit(Farrah)
THE PROS
1. Awesome characters. I loved Digit and John and also Digits friends, even though you didn't hear much about them.
2. Digit's evolution. Since I don't want to give to much away, I think that a lot of times in a book you don't see the evolution of a character until it's over. In this book you see Digit gradually changing and becomeing her own person instead of a mirror to others.
3. Digit's parents. Gotta love those supportive parents!!
4. The bad guys. So yeah I kinda did see that one coming, but still he had a good reason.
5. The danger. I love the whole pressure thing. Like everyones gonna die if you can't do this. I thought it was unrealistic they would put it on Digit's shoulders to crack all those codes, I mean the FBI and CIA do have code breakers, but I totally get why the author would have Digit do the heavey lifting.
6. The Math. Who doesn't love math, Seriously!!
7. The ending. Who doesn't love the sweet ending!!
So yeah I do have more pros, but since listing them all would take forever I won't.
THE CONS
1. I normally feel like I have to list at least one con, but I am making an exception for this book.I guess the biggest thing would be is how they were always talking about how she wasn't 18 yet. That didn't really detract from how much I love the book, but it kinda... I don't know threw me off in some of the situations.
THE OVERALL
This book was epic! I loved it, as you can see above. This book was full of so much epicness I was shocked. It definetly made my list of top 2012 reads and thats saying a lot because it's December 30. So in all I loved the character interactions, the action, and the epic awesomeness!Thank You Annabel Monaghan and please keep writing!!
WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK: OBVIOUSLY BECAUSE IT IS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!
WOULD I BUY THIS BOOK: ALREADY DID AND I SURE WON'T BE RETURNING IT!!
AM I TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK: DUH
WOULD I READ THE NEXT BOOK: YES
WOULD I READ MORE BY THIS AUTHOR: EVEN IF IT WASN'T MY THING I WOULD STILL GIVE IT A GO!!
Fav quote: "For years I've gone to bed gazing up at the eternal question: WHAT IF THE HOCKEY POKEY IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT?"
Okay that is the end of my gushing, and I think YOU should read this book!!

This book had me on the edge of my chair. I laughed at every thought Farah made. The book is funny and face paced. The romance in it is cute because a 21 year old man in in love with a 17 year old girl so he feels weird throughout the story. I loved it.

I love the show Quantico, so when I read the summary of this book, my mind was making so many connections. As a result of that, I had really high expectations for this book. Unfortunately, it did not live up to those.

First, I excepted amazing, insightful character names and backgrounds and instead got blah. I mean, seriously? Yes, I know I sound like a freakish snob talking about names, but the right name means everything to a character. Names will help you to envision what they look like, how they talk, and how they act based off of anyone (or character or celebrity) you happen to know with the same name.

Second, I expected a fast-paced, action-packed plot and got sappy romance in its place. There's many times when Farrah should be working busily on decoding when all she's doing is staring at John and having a fantasy about him kissing her. I'm not opposed to a little romance within a novel, but I feel that her little crush on John didn't contribute much to the plot and really clouded her mind. She's supposed to be a genius and yet acts like an idiot because she's daydreaming about John instead of paying attention.

Overall, it's a nice concept and what action parts were there were fun to read. I'd recommend this if you're a fan of shallow, sappy romances that distract from plots.

This book teetered on the edge of believable and unbelievable. It was like it didn't know if it wanted to be light and fun, or serious and correct. I couldn't figure out if I was enjoying this book or if I was reading it just so I could find out what happens. It was both childish and scary at the same time.

I mean eco-terrorists that are trying to kill you? That's pretty scary. So then why did it also feel like a cliche story? With a childish romance? It kept flipping from one end of the scale to the next. I really liked that Farrah aka Digit was a braniac with numbers and patterns and things but that wasn't the focus of the story, it's what I wanted to be the focus of the story, but instead the cutesy romance was the focus.

It was a cute read. But nothing more for me.

The name of the book is also a weird one, I feel like the only relation it has to the story is the fact that the main character's nick name is 'Digit'.

I really enjoyed this. I enjoyed Digit's personality and growth. I enjoyed the intrigue and danger. I enjoyed the ending, even if it did wrap things up just a little too neatly for me. Just a fun, romping read.
