What a truly powerful book.

If you asked me half way through this, I probably would of rated only 2 stars but when I was finished I realised just how good it was. There was obvious plot points that did not agree with me - if anyone knows me and have read this, they will know exactly what I am talking about, but this book left me exhausted in the best kind of way.

I spent my time reading this surrounded by people giving me worrying glances. If I wasn't fanning myself (ODAMNHOT!), I was shaking with the power of it, or I was laughing out loud or smiling like a loon - and even crying like a baby at some points. This was a roller coaster ride of emotions in a book that surprised me.

As I was reading this I felt there was way too much sex, nearly every event was followed by it and it became tiresome near the end, so tiresome that I skipped a lot. Other than that the obvious plot line I hated, but that wasn't the fault of the author and in a way seemed to bring the story together even more. I, also, normally like to watch a relationship develop and all the UST that goes with it but in this we watch a relationship grow, fall apart and get back together even stronger!

I can't recommend this highly enough - but don't expect a happy, sexy read. This book is definitely powerful!

Re-read 7/11/14 for the Re-romancing the Faves challenge. I had to change my rating to 5 stars. I love all of the sex in this book. It was so what I was looking for in a book right now. Plus, I'm a bit of an angst whore, and I haven't read any good angsty books lately. I love that punch to the gut when Jake watches Travis and Tor; it just makes their HEA all the better for me. The only problem I have is that Jake apologizes. I do agree that both men are at fault for their crappy relationship before Tor cheated, but I'm a firm believer that if you get to the point of cheating, it's time to speak up or dump the other person. Cheating is never ok, and I don't think Jake should have apologized for that.

Hot and angsty, just what I like in a novel. I loved the fact that there was no easy answers. This is one of my favourites.

I give this book 3 or 3.5 stars. I liked it, loved the last section....but overall thought it was too long. A big part of the middle could have been condensed to make it a faster moving story.

This book is very well-written, comprehensive, and one of my favorites. That said, it only gets three stars because it sort of goes off the rails at one point,
Spoiler and there's a rather large dose of blame the victim in it- the same kind of BS that's been used to hold women responsible for their men cheating for centuries. Also, why on earth are other people lecturing their friends and telling them it's their fault their lover cheated and how dare they not take them back? You should never make someone feel bad about being hurt and choosing to walk away from the person who hurt them

Jake is an excellently written character, flawed, but constantly trying. A lot of the secondary characters are also well-written, not caricatures but normal, if frustrated, coworkers and friends. Some of them are ridiculously interfering and act as if they have a right to dictate their friends' happiness, but luckily those are few and far between. Tor could be better-developed. We don't really get a good understanding of what he did from his point of view, and as such, it's difficult to justify how the author somehow makes what he did mostly Jake's fault, or to forgive him.

If it weren't for that thing that had no place in this book.... this would have been easily a 4 star read. maybe 4.5. but then THAT came out of nowhere and for no reason whatsoever.
I read this years ago and still get mad thinking about this book.

And then knowing about the crossover and what happened then!!! JUST NO!

Best book I've read all year! In fact, I'd line it up with my other favourites alongside Marie Sexton and Damon Suede. I love how the characters already had the more common issues sorted out quickly and efficiently (coming out, shame, all that jazz) - which lets Owen talk about the stickier topics that can be confronting and hard to answer.

To me, the best part was how Owen showed that trust and communication go hand in hand because you really can't have one without the other. That said, it also goes to show that love isn't enough for a prosperous relationship and I've never read a better book to describe this.

Also also also, there was a LOT of sex.

Reading notes and later opinions

* Scarcely 16% an I'm already tired of so many sex. I think that I'll skip many sex scenes, if not I will not finish this book."

* Characters, plot and the picture of country work life are so good that the ginormous quantity of sex is forgivable; I skipped most of them but there's a couple of sex scenes that... wow, a glass of iced tea and a fan here, please. And the Legos? that scenes kill me of tenderness. (52%)

* Part Síx is so bitter and sad... but is credible and consistent with the rest of the story. (75%).
SpoilerI'm not a fan of cheating, in my books, like most romance readers. But infidelity exists, although on this issue I agree with the Erica's way of thinking.: Even if people are having problems, it doesn't allow them to cheat. I'm glad Tor himself was kicking his own ass for the cheating. The cheating and most of the following was well handled.(Erica dixit)

* The real name of Hound is Conscience. Can't put this down.(82%)

Overall, I agree with Kaje's review from A to Z.
